This monument is located at a PCT trailhead. It's a good starting point for a short or long hike into the surrounding mountains and doesn't take that long of a walk before the freeway noise is gone. It is true that a lot of homeless like to hang out in the area, but it seems safe enough. We parked our car in the McDonald's parking lot about 1/4 mile away from the trailhead. It's a pretty large lot.

Always nice to read the monument and wonder how traveling was back in the day. Nice to see people haven't wrote on it and have shown respect for the monument. Beautiful views of the mountains and desert. Nice start point to get some of the PCT miles. Always nice to meet people on their journey through PCT.

Was not exactly what we thought. We saw an article in the newspaper and when we got there it was different. First off it's at the end of the street so if you want to find the trail walk to the end and you'll see make shift steps with a narrow trail.

Always nice to read the monument and take pictures of the area and the PCT. I always imagine what it was like to travel back in the 1800's without a well defined road and CARS. I can't see how wagons could handle all the ups and downs of this range on their way to the coast. Beautiful views of the mountains and desert. Nice start point to get some of the PCT ambiance either north or south. Always nice to meet people on their journey through PCT. It has always been my dream to see the PCT and now I can claim I have hiked a...

Great addition to our Historic Cajon! This is a brand new monument built just a year or so ago. Walk either up or down the creek to renew your spirits in the outdoors....and watch out for those rattlesnakes....the hubby nearly killed me by running from an 8ft black rattler, stretched out across the...
