I have had the privilege of 'growing up' on this beautiful and scenic course. I remember my mom dropping me off for my real taste of golf on a big course. My 1st taste of on the links experience was down at Golden Gate Fields when they had a 9 hole course on the infield. So Tilden was my 1st love (except the daunting 1st hole!..lol). Tilden was also where I had my 1st job, picking the range @$3/hr, but all the golf I could in. Moved to LA in '84, played alot there. Each visit back to Berkeley, playing Tilden was a must! It has to one of thee most aesthically breath taking public course that I have played. After fixing the drainage a few decades back, upgrading the driving range, the restaurants patio, Tilden has become the best premiere golfing destinations in the Bay Area! A true test for any skill level.

I’ve been playing Tilden since I was a kid. Over all those years(15ish), this is the best condition I’ve ever seen it. Especially considering how much play it’s been seeing recently. Play can be slow and practice areas can get busy on the weekends. Tee boxes could use some TLC but again, given the amount of play it’s seen, it’s not bad. Greens have been looking especially good lately but they’re slow. Although, they’re consistently slow at least so you can adjust easily after a few holes. The driving range is great, but they’ve had a few issues with the range ball machine lately. Again, seeing a lot of golfers these days. If you’re in the area (I come from Lafayette) make sure to check out the Players Club deal. Can’t beat it.

Located on top of the UC Berkeley campus, it takes a bit drive to come up here. But this place is nice. 3 floors of driving range, and a beautiful 18-hole course that make the parking lot constantly full. With a restaurant next to the office, this provides everything you need for golf experience. Besides that, you can practice chipping, putting and bunker shots. Many people come here for driving range and it is still full even though on Sundays. The view of the course is breathtaking, the range balls are above average and the air is so fresh, and sometimes actually cold. I would live to come back again for whatever the purpose is. This is just a nice place to be at any given time.

Didn’t used to like this course when I was young. Looking back I didn’t like my game not the course. This course is awesome! Gotta bring your A game to score here. Don’t let the score card fool you on yardage. It probably plays a couple hundred yards more with elevations. Stay in the fairways or it can be a long day. Old school course with tee boxes right next to greens so gotta be confident hitting shots or be ready to yell fore!
