I was totally excited to go pick raspberries , having done this at a farm near Solvang a couple years back. $3 pp to pick and then $5.99 per lb when you check out. We picked 2 baskets, they weren’t that sweet so we washed them twice and put them in jello. To our absolute disgust these little maggot worms came crawling out of the berries… trying to escape being drowned!! Yuck!! Apparently they are these little flies that lay eggs on ripe berries and the larvae/maggots live INSIDE the berries … blackberries too … Well that was $15 in raspberries down the drain (literally!)… One extra star bc the animals are adorable and it is a cute farm - but bruhhhhh, you need to warn people about these maggots !! My sis ate all hers before I was able to warn her - and we wouldn’t have known had we not put them in jello - the other box we picked we soaked them in hot water and fruit wash and all the maggots died and sank to the...
Read moreWe came on a Tuesday afternoon. We found out that the entrance is cheaper on weekdays ($3) than weekend ($6). That is nice if you are just coming to pick. If you are coming for your kids to have fun then the weekends might be worth the extra. Apparently, they have more activities for the kids on the weekends. If you are in a hurry they have a market up front. The prices are very comparable to the u-pick price. You can just grab and go. Also, the do all the work of finding the best produce for you. I love beets! They are hard to find so I was here for that. I wanted to pick myself so I paid and went to pick while the wife and kids played and fed the animals. The beets were small but delicious.
I highly recommend coming out to this farm if you are at all interested in produce or if...
Read moreAfter a long day picking at the Moorpark location we headed to Somis to pick some blueberries. They have a cool farmers market to purchase fresh picked fruit and vegetables. This location had the cool goat habitat and benches to relax. It’s very hot so I recommend bringing drinking water. The have port a potties located through out the farm. We picked blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and bought garlic and onions. It was a great time and the food tastes that much better when you pick it. The kids didn’t realize how much work actually goes into the harvesting and food prep for meals. The berries were fresh and delicious. The staff are so nice and extremely helpful. Ten out of ten totally recommend. Like the other location you only pay for...
