After the one year review of my bilateral knee replacements in Castle Rock, I thought I'd go and take a look at Challenge Hill before heading back to Colorado Springs. I wanted to do the hike at the end of the month, but while standing at the foot of the Hill and watching others climb and come down, I figured I might just be able to do it. I climbed at a slow place, not knowing if it was going to be too much for me. Several people came and went ans urged me on. I reached the top, took a few pictures of the spectacular view and started my descent. The trail heading down was nice, but because of the gravel-like areas, I had to be careful not to slip, which did not happen. Remember, I have two new knees, so I am certain this would not be a concern for most people. Later, after reaching the Springs, I called a friend of mine who also has had knee surgery and told him that I would like to climb the Hill with him. We will be doing it at the end of the month. In addition, I spoke with my niece. We will be climbing the Hill of September 5th. Challenge Hill is definitely not anything like the Manitou Incline, but if you are looking to get in shape, have a nice weekend hike, or just have fun and try something and see some beautiful sights at the same time, Challenge Hill is a great option. There is also a lot to see and do in the Philip S....

Great development- discovered by accident when my go-to hike at Rock Park was closed. The trails here are easy and you never get to far from the parking lot. Now about challenge hill- sorry, it’s hard. I’m in good shape for my age and all the poseurs reviewing this as “a fun little warm up on your way to the Manitou Incline (I did it three times!”) are doing the average Joe a disservice. 200 giant steps to the top is hard work if you aren’t regularly doing this type of workout. I laughed at the warning sign at the base that basically said this ascent might kill me- around the 110th step I found myself sucking wind and agreeing with it. Great outdoor challenge for some, definitely not...

The "incline" at this park is great for beginners amd kids. 200 steps (vs 2700 steps at.Manitou incline) so its good for conditioning. All ages friendly. Having a soccer/football field, all kinds of kids playgrounds (free and good quality, rain or shine 7/24) Not very far from Denver. Castle.rock also has bunch of outlets for someone whoe is not in to sports. But i am sure kids will have a blast in thisnpark. I am actually recommending bringing your litlle ones with you. They also have zip lines for any one who is 70lbs and more, but for smaller ones there are PLENTY of climbing and playong yards. They also have a NINJA COURSE which for hard core folks. Something that they show on TV. Its...

I really love coming here! The incline is a great challenge, and a fantastic workout. Then the "workout park" (not sure what they call it) makes for a nice place to hit more upper body and core. Even the kids thoroughly enjoy it! And I love being able to get in strength training outside! Then the kids park is really wonderful, and is half the reason we go (it makes it easier to talk the kids into going, lol!) Everything always appears to be clean and in working condition. The only downside would be the lack of a really bathroom (there are Porta potties).

It's a challenge alright. I think most of the challenge is the steps don't seem like the normal rise of 7 inches. However, 200 steps is still a decent amount of steps. I definitely would not recommend doing basically the first thing after flying into Denver, having a couple beers, then saying you can do it by problem. Never been to this altitude, so once I got to the job I couldn't stop spitting up all the drainage from my sinuses. I sounded like wheezy from toy story for a couple days. On the way down we almost had some deer try to kill us.
