First time visiting Lakeline Park today - I had no idea it was open until recently, and it's just a couple of miles from our house. We enjoy hiking and were looking forward to seeing what the trails were like. We took the 2+ mile loop around the lake. It is entirely paved with concrete, which may not be the best for runners, but it's fantastic and accessible for kids bikes, strollers, and wheelchairs (although there are some inclines that might be challenging). I was pleasantly surprised with how dense they've kept the natural canopy and understory in many places, creating a lot of cool shade and natural views. With the exception of the future sports fields and "the big lawn" near the pavilion, it's entirely native scaped with native grasses and wildflowers. Another benefit of the trails being paved concrete is that they won't wash out and require rebuilding every time there's a significant rain/flash flood event. There are plenty of dog bag stations a long the lake loop, but the only water station is at the trail head near the kayak rentals. We didn't go to the large pavilion/playground area which was very crowded, but I imagine there are water fountains up there along with bathrooms. Just plan to go to the bathroom before you start your hike and pack your own water. Overall pros: native landscaping, dense canopy in some areas, accessible walking/biking paths, ample parking. Overall cons: park signage is hard to read, probably need at least one "relief" (bathroom/water) station along the...
Read moreWe went the second day it opened and there were so many people! The place was so beautiful with the lake and grass area, and the playground was pretty cool too and had a lot of slides which excited the kids; BUT they failed miserably when building the big-kid playground WITHOUT a shade! We went in the afternoon when it was at the peak hottest hour of the day; and NO ONE was riding the slides or really playing on the big-kid playground because it was SSSOOOO hot! I literally heard multiple kids say that they burnt their little bottoms while going down the slide.! The playground has zip lines and lots of cool little play areas for kids but they need more shaded seating area/picnic tables for parents to be at a closer distance with their kids when they’re on the playground. The current sheltered seating area is nice but it needs to be closer to...
Read moreLast Saturday, I had the joy of celebrating Uttarayan, the festival of kites, at the serene Lakeline Park. The event, organized by Nandgam Haveli (Shreenathji Bhagwan Temple), was a tapestry of vibrant kites, delectable food, and spirited dance. Despite the chilling 1°C weather, the warmth of the community and the joy of the festivities made it a day to remember. The park itself, with its lush landscapes and panoramic views, provided the perfect backdrop for this cultural celebration. Its well-maintained greenery and open spaces were ideal for both the kite-flying enthusiasts and those of us who simply wished to bask in the beauty of the surroundings. A truly memorable event in a...
