Love the pickleball courts, especially the 2 dedicated to the sport of pickleball. Don't love the portable set-up/ take-down pickleball nets for which we must be responsible each time we play when the 2 dedicated pickleball courts are taken (like ALL the time! Rarely ever score one of these 😐) Anyway, hardly ever see anyone playing with the fuzzy neon yellow balls used for the sport known as tennis (tongue in cheek), but on occasion, this does happen on the 2 nights my group plays (Mondays & Wednesdays). Also, do not appreciate the confusing way the pickleball kitchen is outlined (the boundary lines) in deference to the tennis players, quite obviously. Don't wish to appear too negative here because in my own personal family there is a tennis enthusiast who has played on the Memorial Park courts for over 50 some years & a tennis professional (yeah, that's right. That's what I said. A well known & loved used-to-be-local Tennis Pro who has played on your courts for 25 some years, so believe me, I have nothing against the sport of tennis. Just saying, back to those kitchen lines, who in their right mind thought it a good idea to color one kitchen boundary yellow, while the other is white? There's a few other boundary issues, but seriously, that's the icing on the cake. To top it all off, I have been there when 8+ pickleball courts are in use while no one is playing tennis. I get it; tennis used to be SO popular & maybe the Trojan team needs a certain # of tennis courts, but at least make the pickleball boundaries a cool different color (say, neon green, 'think pickles' 😉 or hey, if that's too close to the color of those fuzzy little balls, how about neon purple or pink or blue or anything, but one yellow & one white). Let the tennis guys try to keep up with the funky colors, not the ones who are out there night after night trying to enjoy the sport of pickleball. I rest my case. Yeppers, if you recognize this editorial voice, I once criticized CASHS high school in a popular editorial (that gained many comments from teachers mostly, as only a few really smart students ever were caught reading the editorial page of the student newsletter) raking the school over the coals for the inhumane practice of scheduling our high school PE swimming instruction during the freezing winter months of the year. It couldn't have been a female responsible for this abominable oversight, I surmised, or at least a female with very thick short or very thick long hair. Water torture comes to mind, all said in jest, not a threat or anything close to a hate crime. (It's a downright shame I even have to qualify the previous statement that way.) Anyway, am the daughter of a once super popular teacher who was affectionately called DEWY, though it earned the adoring students demerits. (I wonder, do these still exist? Demerits?) Oh, the glorious past we remember fondly, demerits, in school suspension, peanut circle, color day, all night party, prom, lockers, the impossibility of actually making it to class on time before that beloved, though strict teacher, matter of factly with a joyful click, it seemed, closed the door as he looked at us racing, racing toward the classroom. No obese students then. Not enough time to make it from the far end of the music wing to a classroom on the western side of the Ist floor without racing (hope Bear never caught us) every blessed time, and sometimes not being successful. Should've written an editorial about that injustice while I still had my voice, an interested audience & my youth, ah, youth. But hey, hope this review shakes things up a bit; gets the ball moving, so to speak 😉 I'm literally having so much fun with these puns, but I should really bring this match game to a close. Not even a close one; you've just been pickled, oh I really should stop. I truly wish to thank you for the pickleball courts. Just wish my Cburg buddies weren't so adamant about not going all the way to Greencastle, as they did last year, to play on the 8 beautiful dedicated courts at Jerome King Playground. Antrim Park...
Read moreWe have enjoyed the privilege of watching our children play and grow in memorial park over the last fifteen years. This is a a highly used recreation park that is very clean and well cared for; lots of parking but in Saturdays during soccer season watch out you may not get parking- which speaks volumes to the use it gets as an area of play for the kids of our area. During those horribly heatwave days in the summer keep an eye on the pool count and it’s not unusual to see people parking at the middle school. The fields are really well kept especially when taking into consideration the amount of play the fields get; the pool facilities are well maintained. A big shout out for the traffic helpers on Saturday mornings; one gentleman even gave us some bandaids out of his own stash for one of the little guys on our team. Great job all...
Read moreThis is a very nice park. It's well laid out and has several different amenities that you don't find at most parks. They have an aquatic center that has slides and a large splash pad/kids area. I believe there's a pay per day option and also a pass that you can get. He has several tennis courts that have been updated with pickleball lines but it could use an extra basketball court since there's only one. It is kept clean and the landscaping is nice. It has one large pavilion that you can reserve. The only downside to this park is the one side is right next to 81 which is kind of noisy but other than that it's a great place to take a walk or spend some time with...
