My wife and I just moved into a larger house in the area. When dropping off 4 large boxes in my wife’s newer SUV the drop off people gladly accepted roughly $3000 worth of small items I did not have to time to try and sell.
We bought a solid walnut table as our original table did not work in the new space. We had originally paid around $1500 for this table and I brought it into Goodwill with my old truck. Goodwill didn’t even look at the table before telling me that they would not accept it as I was unloading the three piece table pad ($200). He took one look at my work truck, said no tables and walked away. I feel bad that I can no longer trust that Goodwill has a solid business model to help those in need. A table we invested $1700 in three years ago is no longer good enough to give away to those in need. The Goodwill employee tried to make me feel ashamed of myself for driving an old rusty vehicle.
So I called my wife and asked her to shut off one of the two furnace units this evening for either the right or left side of the house. We have two fireplaces on opposite ends of the main floor and will burn the table in one of them in silent protest. I’m done donating perfectly good items to people. This table was good enough for us at our previous Parade of Homes Show house, but times must be so good for everyone that this table is not good enough anymore. I’ll will now skip people donations and stick with animal rescues, they don’t judge and are a lot more...
Read moreThe staff at this location is very up and down. Some days you will have the most helpful people and the next it is like you don't even exist.
The store is clean for the most part and the items they have are in good order. I feel that they do put effort in making sure items are given a decent once-over to ensure you are getting something of value and not just broken garbage.
The location and parking lot are nice and easy to manage. Take the 169 frontage road by Target to get to this location, I know a few people that don't live in the area were confused on how to get there (honestly I don't know how you could miss it but hey, figured I'd just toss that in here.)
Overall I think they could do better in staffing or training. I know this isn't the dream job of a lifetime, but honestly we've all worked a "job" before, some of us still do. You are being paid for your time, either do the job asked of you with a decent attitude or quit and find something else, but don't take it out on the customers that are the reason the store exists in the...
Read moreThis is one of the cleanest & well organized Goodwills that I have been in. I only gave a 4 star rating because the minute I stepped in, there was an overpowering smell of bleach. It was so bad that my husband had to go sit in the car. It also limited my shopping time. I came upon the culprit when I went down an aisle where an employee was cleaning off shelves. The manager asked this poor guy if he wanted a mask. There are other, safer ways to clean than having your nostril hairs burned off. Found some nice treasures. A specific lamp shade that I needed, some home decor & vinyl. Yes, albums are a thing!!! My question - where are Men's outerwear. I could find no coats or jackets. Cashier was not engaging in my friendly banter. Did ask me if I had any coupons, which I did not realize was a thing. Should have asked what that was about. Parking was excellent but they need to do deep removal off the packed snow. Driving through the parking lot was like driving through a untended field...
