The visit to Frosty Drew was great - the nature center is small but rich with information and displays. The local astronomy club that hosted the observatory and field telescopes were all friendly, informative, and helpful. Our family had a lot of fun - don't forget to bring bug spray!!!

Very impressive observatory with friendly staff. Will be back again soon. Looking forward to seeing more planets and galaxies in the near future.

Sir, honestly we didn't get treated well by Mr. Scott. I brought my 9 yr son all the way from NJ after reading up on your observatory and Fridays update on your website. I understand it is free and runs by donation. So I am not complaining much but just sharing my observations. It looked like there was a scout troop visiting your observatory on that day. There were multiple scout troop ppl before us. Mr. Scott is very knowledgeable and did explain in detail to them. We stood in line for at least 30 minutes and there was two more families behind us. When our turn came, he enquired if we were part of the troops, made us wait at the door and then just bailed on us. He went to the lawn telescope and started explaining more to the scout troops. I understand that everyone does their service. We just waited for him for another 45 minutes right at the door expecting him to return. However if he is going to be busy or needs to give his full attention to another group, it could have been just mentioned on the website. We could have planned our trip on another day. The rest of the 2 families also went back completely unhappy. Then someone else volunteered to show around the observatory but he didn't know much. A better coordination and update on the website would have saved everyone the trouble.

UPDATE to below response:

  1. On your website, it only states it is public viewing and everyone is invited. Also there were 4 groups or pairings of the previously stated group before us who were let in and explained. It was apparent that Mr. Scott was friends with someone who was part of the previous group.

  2. If there is going to be a preferential treatment for a specific group or your team is booked for a private or large group tour, you could have politely published on your website that today's public viewing is closed. It would have saved me a 4 hour one way journey.

What happened was not right. Your team could have better coordinated, handled and communicated.

RESPONSE to Mr. Scott's reply below:

At the outset, I can only comment that you have not read my review with its due attention. If you did, you would realize that I was neither asking for any "preferential treatment" nor complaining why I wasn't given one --- but sharing my experience of how you (Mr. Scott) were giving preferential treatment to a certain group & ignoring mine & other unknown families who were patiently waiting in line for the public viewing.

My family was a group of 3. We came around the time the public viewing started & patiently waited in line. At no stage we asked anyone for any early access like you have written below.

I am not complaining to you that it was a cloudy night or the stars were not visible. I am ONLY sharing my experience about how you were NOT TRANSPARENT in conducting private events during a public viewing & created most inconvenience for my family & for other unknown families who were patiently standing in line for more than 45 minutes. They were turned away because you were busy with a private event and failed to communicate adequately on your website or at the venue. You just BAILED on us after checking whether any of these families were part of the earlier scout group. What kind of person does this?

I believe these forums like google are here so all experiences can be shared, orgs can take such feedback & create better experiences for the public. Your intention that you want to ban me for sharing my experience just indicates how defensive you are. Please be rest assured that I NEITHER RECOMMEND this observatory nor have any intention of visiting it once more. Please feel free to ban me if you choose to.

Again what happened was not right. Your team could have better coordinated, handled and communicated so that all those unknown families and kids (in addition to mine) who came that day would have saved...

We came here last year and what an incredible experience to be able to see the beauty of the moon, the magnificent jupiter, saturn and it’s amazing rings, interesting quasars through the telescope. So clear and it seems so close like you can touch them. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. No entrance fee . You just give a donation. You do have to wear pants, long sleeve shirt, head/ear covering and preferably sneakers because understandably, there’s so much bugs and bug spray didn’t even work. We were hoping to return this year to see the milky way (only seen when the moon is not around and the sky is clear, we were told)and other planets (only seen at certain times), but we might have to forego it because of the current situation...

A lifetime obsessed with all things moon and stars and this was my first time seeing the moon and its beautiful craters! What made the experience even better was how welcoming Jessica was. The gentleman Brian was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic as he explained to us the ways of the telescope and what we might be able to see! There is something magical about the stars and being able to enjoy the moment, especially with folks passionate about it! Thanks again! Can't...
