What a gem of a public park. We took my mom there on July 4th for one of her favorite things to do...have a picnic! Since it was a big summer holiday, and uber hot in Charlotte, we got there early. We had the choice of setting up at a picnic table under shade trees or under the covered shelter, both with pretty water views and close proximity to bathrooms. We chose the Shelter since it was easier for my mom to navigate with a walker. Both options are manageable for handicap patrons, with easy access from the car to the picnic areas. There are many oversized charcoal grills, which were in use while we were there. Unfortunately one user disposed of hot charcoal in the metal trashcan, which started smoking after they left. My husband noticed it and doused it with water. Geez, people...don't put hot coals in a trashcan until you are 100% sure they are not a fire hazard! Smoky the Bear is watching. Speaking of trashcans, ours were clean and empty, the bathrooms were spotless, and we saw Parks & Rec patrolling. We will definitely return to this lovely and well-maintained public space. Being here made me proud to be a Charlottean. ...

This park is amazing! Definitely one of the best parks in Charlotte. We played for over an hour and a half and still did not get around to playing in every area of the playground! There's a squishy mat covering the ground under and around the entire play area, making it much safer for my very clumsy 5-year-old twins. There are multiple slides, obstacle course type equipment, and there is even a sandbox, though it could use a little more sand..lol. there is areas for toddlers there's areas for big kids they even have the round monkey bars that spend making it honestly look more like a American ninja course for children. But all in all it's absolutely awesome time to be had for the whole family.. I can't wait to take my family back and walk around the lake and see the beautiful wildlife.. Birds, and turtles to watch from the pier, hike along the trails, and maybe even play a little volleyball before we sit down for a...

This is a nice park with a large play area for children. One playground is best suited for toddlers while the other one is best suited for bigger kids.

The are a number of different athletic fields with what nice facilities. There’s also a new picnic shelter that has several large charcoal grills.

This park also has a nice lake with a paved path around it. 4 laps around this lap is approximately a 5K. Another great thing about this park is that it’s connected to the greenway so adding extra miles onto your lake loop is very easy to do.

Last tip is that there is a bulk recycling area within this park where you can take your overflow...

This park is a great park for anyone. Fairly easy to get to from I-77 and the south side of Charlotte. It has been renovated from years ago. So much more to this park than I mention here...sports fields, sand volleyball court, etc...go to website for full description and hours. I spent my time at the pond. Paved walkways around 'runoff' pond. Several big open shelters near the pond. Benches. Water fountains in water. A couple wooden walks over parts of the water with rails including low areas in rails for those in wheelchairs. Kids play area. Bathrooms. Recycling drop-off is close to parking lot.
