Love, love, love The Farm. I've been going for years to get my annuals and veggies each spring, but this year I had a much bigger project - new plantings for the entire front of my home. I stopped by one cold and rainy Saturday morning hoping for some ideas on a specimen plant. Bob stopped to ask if I needed some help and pointed me in the direction of a beautiful pompom evergreen, which was perfect. He then showed me a few different deciduous trees, including a paperbark maple. His help started the process rolling for me.
A couple of weeks later, I arrived and asked for some help with shrubs and perennials and was lucky to be directed to Jay. I showed him pictures of the areas I needed help with along with measurements. After some chatting, Jay walked me around and pulled out different evergreens, deciduous plants, roses and much much more. He listened to what I liked - and more importantly, didn't like - and came up with a wonderful mix of plants and shrubs that work together beautifully. He didn't rush me through options, but stayed with me as together we planned what would look good at different places around my house. He took into account some of the challenges my property has (deer, and black walnut trees) when suggesting different plants. He even answered my questions after I got home! Now my house is a true showpiece and my friends and neighbors can't stop complimenting me on how good everything looks.
If you want quality help and a large variety of plants, there is nowhere else around...
Read moreI love this place. The Farm has every plant you can imagine: indoor, outdoor, perennials, annuals, shade, deer resistant, etc. Weâre avid gardeners and stopped by on a whim because itâs mid March and usually nurseries donât have much but trees and shrubs this early. If they do have plants, theyâre usually runty and unimpressive. We were, therefore, surprised to find a large selection of big faced pansies, creeping Jennies, hellebores, ferns, bulbs, foam flowers, and heucheras. A shade loving paradise for gardeners like me who must contend with a tree canopy. There were some sun-loving plants such as carnations and dahlias. All the perennials were hardened off so they could go straight to ground if you can turn your soil over. The plants are well-cared for, which means you may pay slightly more for some plants than at a chain store. Having said that, the quality is incomparable. The Farm is a thousand times better. I controlled my impulses because I need to pace myself. I didnât realize they carried Jonathan Green grass seed and lawn care items. I already ordered them from Amazon. :( The pricing is the similar so if I knew I would have purchased from the Farm instead. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. My rule of thumb is you know youâre in the right nursery when the staff wear khakis, hiking boots, hats, and walkie-talkies. Itâs huge. Go and lose yourself in...
