Boy oh boy, this was gorgeous. I HIGHLY recommend taking the walk/hike to see this incredible overlook. The view is so beautiful with plenty of seating if you wanted to bring lunch out there (no tables). You are up above the many hawks that are constantly flying by. I do want to mention something about the "overlook" trail. The trail takes you thru the forest and starts running into some really cool rock gardens. There are piles of huge boulders strewn all over the place. You end up walking over the smaller rocks as they are all over the trail too. If you're traveling with kids it's probably a great place for them to do some climbing. However, if you're with older people or someone that's got issues with ankles or knees, you might want to take the trail marked for the tower and the wall. It is an easier walk and will dump you right to the connection to the overlook trail and at this point you're really close to the overlook. You'll run into a series of man-made stairs, about 100 in total, and then you've arrived at the overlook. It's...

The Trail at Fort Mountain State Park offers a short yet rewarding hike to one of North Georgia’s most stunning vistas. This 0.8-mile out-and-back trail is well-marked and features a series of stairs leading to a wooden viewing platform. From there, hikers are treated to sweeping views of the Cohutta Mountains and the valley below, making it a perfect spot for photography or a peaceful break. The trail is pet-friendly (leashes required) and suitable for hikers of all levels, though the stairs can be a bit steep. For those looking to extend their adventure, the trail connects to the Stone Tower and Stone Wall Trails, forming a 1.5-mile loop that showcases the park’s rich history and natural beauty. Don’t forget water and...

Nice state park Friendly helpful rangers. No crowds, easy parking Camping with water and electric- dump station. Hiking, mountain biking, equestrian trails, swimming, play ground, fishing and maybe more that we didn't even see. The $5 parking fee was very reasonable for 5 hours of park adventures. Clean rest rooms, maintained trails, safe location to enjoy nature and we saw a bear.

Give this review a like👍❤️ or mark as helpful. We really enjoyed spending the morning hiking around the park and enjoying nature and we think you will too.

Just watch out for the giant joro spiders, less they are benefits but it will not hurt you. But their webs can be...
