McGuire's Millrace Farm — Attraction in Cherokee County Community

My husband, Jay, and I are celebrating our second month of marriage this weekend. We are still not over the magic that is McQuires Millrace Farm, where it all started. I don’t write reviews a lot, but this place and these people are truly worth a shout out! I went into the process of picking a wedding venue not knowing exactly what to expect, but I was hoping that when I spotted the right space I would know. And that is what happened!! Not only are the grounds just a spectacular in person as they are in the pictures (probably even more so actually- I mean that reception hall couldn’t be better), but the family who you will be working with if you select McQuires is also a huge selling point. Each person is there to make sure that you get exactly what it is you, your soon to-be-spouse, and your families want. They are patient, kind, problem-solvers, and truly have your best interests at heart. They made me and my parents feel so at ease through the process. We hired Natalie as our day of wedding coordinator (thank god) to ensure everything went smoothly without work on our part, BJ for our delicious cheesecake, and Amanda for all things floral. They are a dream team! I gave Amanda pictures of the bouquets I loved and asked her to get as close to the pictures as possible. She nailed it, and somehow made it even better than the “Pinterest perfect” picture I had shown her. Natalie is so organized, responsive, and caring. She makes sure all is as it should be, all the while keeping a calm and positive demeanor. It rained on our big day, which was not the plan. But Natalie and all the staff had backup plans on top of backup plans, and honestly our “plan B” was equally as beautiful as my original vision. Plus we got an epic double rainbow out it all, so big time worth it. My bridal party stayed at the lodge on the venue grounds, something I also HIGHLY recommend. It is such a good feel, and the perfect way to extend the family or friend time together on such an important weekend! We used the suggested vendors (DJ and photographer), and they were also wonderful! So, this is my long winded way of saying that McQuire’s is a 10 out of 10 for weddings!! This is an incredibly important day, I get that, and they..get that!! You will be in good hands!...

From the time I started working with Natalie I knew our wedding would be magical. We had so many questions and she was very patient with us. I'm not the most creative person so she would talk through things with me and we would come up with beautiful, personal, creative solutions. I have celiac and she worked with me to find the perfect gluten free menu that everyone would love. She also did a last minute accommodation for having our rehearsal dinner at the venue when it was threatening to rain and our original plan couldn't happen. Speaking of rain, our original plan was to have our ceremony in the birch tree garden and reception inside. Mother Nature did not agree. Natalie was cool, calm, and collected and smoothly made the transition to an inside ceremony, while keeping me and my husband calm, while also continually communicating with us, while updating our vendors AND our wedding party! We did have her as our Day Of Coordinator which we were hesitant about due to the cost. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! I could not stress that enough. She was absolutely incredible. I definitely had the wedding of my dreams at McGuire's Millrace Farm. We wanted an outdoor ceremony, but by Friday we had to plan for an indoor ceremony due to the weather (it rained the entire week leading up to the wedding!) I certainly would have been just as happy with an indoor ceremony. The barn is BEAUTIFUL! Fortunately, the skies opened up and the sun came out for the first time and we were able to have the ceremony outside. Mrs. Linda told us that they only had 4 weddings rained out since 2009. Natalie was AMAZING during the whole planning process. We do not live anywhere near Murphy, NC and did not see the venue for the first time until the Wednesday before our wedding. I was relying heavily on my mom (who doesn't live in Murphy either) and Natalie. Natalie was a God-send to our family and I will forever cherish her and the entire McGuire family.
