Portsmouth City Park — Attraction in Chesapeake

I had the opportunity for the first time to go to Portsmouth City Park in Portsmouth, VA; while looking for a quiet spot to work on my new book, entitled, "The Key, - The Game of Life." I decided to venture to Portsmouth, VA; where some of my friends live who often talk about how nice this park is. So, I went to see for myself and was impressed. The only problem I had was as you enter the park, you pass a hugh Cemetery. Which I wasn't comfortable with, so I immediately slowed down and asked a dog walker for directions, thinking somehow I had made a wrong turn. After being told, "To keep driving," Walla! There was this beautiful park which included a Goff Course, a Hugh surrounding River or Lake, a Tennis Court, a Boat Ramp, several Tables for Cookouts and Parties, a Fishing Pier and much more. I also found my very own bench to sit and absorb the elements I needed to Create! Once the sun got too hot, I still found a table under the shade to accommodate my need. If you are ever in Portsmouth, VA: Please take the kids out for a fun filled day to unwind, let their hair down and soak up the sun. Make sure you throw something on the grill to make your day more enjoyable! So, I give Portsmouth City Park a High Five and a Thumbs up! I thoroughly enjoyed several hours working on my book and I also caught the tail end of a beautiful Wedding. The environment was relaxed, very peaceful yet fun filled. The most important part was to see so many children having a good time. With all the things going on in the world today, our children need that time to breathe and relax. You need to spend more time with your children now more than ever because they are suffering from various emotional and mental problems that could be rectified if, - you as Parents take the time with your own children. Your children are our future generation. And just think, "If things continue at the rate it's going our future doesn't look good at all." So, put down the Video games, stop allowing them to listen to so much foul music full of degrading vulgar lyrics and turn off the Television sometimes as well. Have a good old fashion conversation with the entire family together ❤️

Gorgeous views and family friendly. I came by to people watch and take a lunch time out from reality.This park is well maintained and a soul-restoring break from the hectic pace of daily living. The trees, shrubs and flowers are beautiful and you can catch children stooping down to look at the flowers eye to eye then smiling back at their adult caregivers.The seating options are generous enough that you just show up and sit down somewhere by the water most of the time during the weekdays. The picnic areas are always clean and the canopies are great for picnics. The seating is comfortable.I am a boat watcher so I enjoy the water people. They look so happy launching their boats and the children love the thought of being out there with the geese and ducks.Great alone time, friend meet up and family outing location. The playground is pretty spectacular, for a public playground. The low playset is wheelchair- and handicap-accessible, and long enough to be interesting. The high set is three "stories" high with safety features (barriers to climbing on the outside, small vertical spaces that make falling less likely, and accessibility for moderately athletic parents) that will make it a hit with kids and caretakers alike. Both sets are collocated, along with swings, a merry-go-round, and a wheelchair-accessible picinic area with tables for several families, on a rubber mat "ground" that cushions falls and is great for running on, even (if you dare--this is still Portsmouth) barefoot.

With ample parking, some shade, and benches/picnic tables for weary adults, this was worth driving to from Western Branch for two days during a recent family reunion when the 9yo got bored. There were other kids to play tag with...
