Long post Great Park! Segregate your child's age groups and yours... I'm 51 with 4yo twins... Coming down the tall slide means your not 5'10 200+. The body is willing, but the shoulders are bruised. (BMI ain't never worked for me. 6%BF was 165, i.e I'm not that fat; dammnit) The slide are made for max 14 or so. Mine was 4, and was gonna do it anyway when his twin sis was elsewhere. 2 kids plus means be prepared like a theme park. Anything will happen. What I can say; is as a parent. My twins had a BLAST... Well built, safe (in zones)... I was comfortable even when looking for the monsters... But this ain't no quiet get away time while they are doing play time. Especially, on a weekend. Might be quieter off hours. But I ain't done there yet. I'll try to get them there weekday. Save my HBP.
PS I do like the more challenging aspects of the yard. But, They require a much greater level of parental attention. Watching my munchkin daughter traverse a 6ft tall monkey ring with minimal vertical support... She's 35 lbs = no momentum... Snatch hold weight and grab. Was exciting. My son, trying once, stopping and saying I can't do it. [With a bit of strong encouragement] Going on to figure out complex situations before charging in, failing and not giving up.... Priceless. He didn't stop. None of this is easy. Pushing, pulling, being willing to let them fail or (hopefully) not get hurt is not at all easy. But having them succeed, overcome, or achieve is priceless. We put in the work... We do things like to show them anything is possible. Work harder when you fail. But US Americans do the work to be here. To try again. I don't expect my children to die on something stupid. And to be sure being great ain't not stupid. I climbed up something not designed for me. Told the other kids wait a minute. Started kideo. Not my best. I was scared, bruised, but more scared that'd I'd let my son go through that alone. He thought it was great!. Then my daughter wanted to try, I told her next week, cause daddy needs some ice. So, I bought em off with sonic ice cream pop. Now mom is mad cause half they're...
Read moreI found this website last night and it may be worth the trip to play 9 holes and I got up this morning and headed over to this course, I really liked this course it is awesome it was easy to play and it was very inexpense and alot of fun. This course is for the inexperienced golfer who really want to learn how to play like myself. It is easier to learn by playing yourself who don"t have money for a instructor. I will definately return each week to play this course because I really had a wonderful time If you have any questions just go and play you will not regret it I...
Read moreI gave this course 5 stars because it is a rare entity to find a 9 hole links style course that is so cheap and accessible. I have been playing here since I was a kid and it still challenges me some 30 years later. Please come play this course, the city keeps threatening to turn it into a top golf or a sports plex or high density housing which would be a real shame. I believe that this is the single greatest thing in Portsmouth. The place is a little neglected because of the lack of funding, I wish the city would realize that they have something special here and stop trying to run it...
