Shout out to an employee of Strack & Van TIL Chesterton… “Dakota”
I came into the store recently, and I always reach for a disinfectant wipe to use on my cart… this time the container was empty.. I looked around to see if there was an employee near me and there was so I approached him.. I told him of the situation..Dakota said he would take care of it…. in that moment he stopped what he was doing at the front of the store reached for a container of disinfectant wipes he was using immediately offering them to me so I could wipe down my cart… I graciously accepted the offer … thanked him very much. I noticed his name and I knew immediately. I was going to contact the store manager to let them know what this young man did which was providing me excellent excellent customer service… as I walked away. I noticed that he walked right over to the service desk and reported to them of the situation… immediately the other employees he reported it to took care of it… I can tell you in this day & age….It is rare very rare that anyone is provided that level of excellent customer service… in that moment.. I went about my shopping ..when I was finished shopping ..I went right up to the customer service desk, asked for a manager, the manager graciously listened to my story.. by the way the manager was very thrilled I had told her what Dakota had done.. The manager said he is a very good employee ..I said make sure you give him a raise and make sure you tell him I said thank you… the manager, said she would.. as I was going through the checkout line over the loudspeaker I heard the manager call his name out and ask him to come to the customer service desk. I knew then that I had reported it to the right person for the right reasons…. Thank You Dakota…You Matter…

Read moreHello,
I wanted to start by saying i patron this establishment probably between 5-7 times a week being that we have a bigger family. I always try to say hi and be courteous to your staff. I can NOT however say the same for your managers. I said hi to your morning front end manager today and like the past 2 years didn't say a word, she is always upset and I would understand if someone had a bad day. This was at 8 am this morning and I have never seen her greet a customer, smile, be inviting or create a culture in that store that says we value you and your business. The same can go for the 2nd shift front end manager. Probably one of the most laziest people I've seen work there, barking orders and never approachable. The only manager that ever went out of his way to say hi was Chris. Very nice, approachable and well mannered. I would hope senior leadership is aware of this and how your front end managers don't really do a whole lot of customer service , but admin work and barking orders and then express attitude to boot. Not sure if anyone reads this from the store but this isn't just hey , I saw this today. This is the way this store is run from at least my view after moving out here to Chesterton in 2019. I will still come here obviously since you are 3 min from my home, but man, its a shame you have managers that are in a customer facing environment and either hate their job, need to move on because this is a chore for them, or are just not coached the right way on how to run a...
Read moreI am writing this because I was disrespected to a tipping point yesterday afternoon and could no longer deal with the lack of respect. I worked at stracks in the bakery dept this year from sometime around the beginning of october to a couple days before christmas. It was great at first, the people in bakery were very helpful and kind. But, the longer I worked back there the more disrespect I got from the bakery manager. From excessive blaming to out-of-pocket disrespect. I was always heavily depended on when it was my shift due to me being the only one running it for 6-7 hour shifts after about 1 pm ish with only one 15 min break. The disrespect was unreal. From being blamed for making up excuses to being told to "shape up" or leave. I did not deserve being disrespected by my own manager and to be talked down to. If anyone wants to work in the bakery, i dont recommend it whatsoever. What ive also come to understand is that during the holidays, every manager and employee is put on edge because of how busy it gets. Which is completely understandable, but there is no excuse for disrespecting someone who is already a position below you. Im very grateful for the co-workers who were nothing but respectful and helpful with anything i needed. Thank you for your time, safe...
