My wife and I spent a week tent camping here, overall campsite and amenities were nice. There is a rec room with board games, some free arcade games, etc. You can also rent boats and fish in their man-made lake, which also has a large swimming area.
There are a few nuances about the place to note before you book your visit. The office reeks of cigarette smoke because the office attendant chain smokes right outside the door, which didn't bother us but may cause issues for some. The office attendant did not seem like she was happy to be there..When checking in, told us how that there are people who live there permanently and have work in the morning, and quiet time is between 10pm and 8am. Camp store and office do not open until 1:00. I had bought ice from the camp store later in the week at 1:30 in the afternoon and was told repeatedly if I needed anything else that her shift is over at 6, so if I needed anything else be back before 6. When I went back around 5:40, camp store and office were locked.
I do not recommend tent camping at this campground. Their so-called "heavily wooded rustic tent area" is very open with literally no privacy from other sites. Several RV's were across from us in the tent area, and their awnings were touching..they really pack you in like sardines. A little overpriced/expensive; each night cost $52/night for a site with electric and...
Read moreMy fiance and I have been coming back for about four or five years now for their tent camping. We both love the campground! There are a ton of amenities like a playground for kids, a beach for swimming, spots to fish around the lake, boat rentals, a rec room, newly renovated bathrooms, the list goes on!! Wawa, Weis and the local town are only a few minutes away for convenience. The staff & others staying there are very friendly too.
The only thing is that they used to let us camp around the lake, but the past few Memorial Day weekends they only let us tent kind of near the bathrooms on the edge of their field. I understand a few bad apples can ruin it for everyone, but it just sucks for those who have been coming for years - specifically for their remote feeling tent sites that aren't right next to someone else. I hope it will go back to the old way someday.
We will very like be back in a few months for their rustic camping if it is available.
Edit: We tried to come back for the rustic camping, but unfortunately we were told they don't have it. Between having the camp sites at the open field where there is no privacy, and no more rustic camping, I think it might unfortunately be time for us to find a different campsite. It was a great couple of years though, we had great memories there. If they ever go back to the way it used to be, we'll...
Read moreGreat find in the Poconos! We stayed over during a busy Poconos Raceway weekend to visit family in the area when all the other campgrounds we checked were fully booked. We fortunately got the last available site over the phone with Laura, who was very nice, and called several times afterwards to make sure we were OK as we got there late in the day. AAA discount saved us 10% over listed price. Our site (#100) was level, had fresh gravel, good water pressure and electric, and was shaded. The office sent someone to spot as I had to back into the site, which was super helpful (and ensured we were safe). Bathrooms were clean, had good water pressure and hot water even though the campground was full. Our dog loved walking around the lake which was very tranquil in the mornings & evenings. Front office was very friendly and offered help if we needed anything, which we didn’t, but it was nice to know we could ask. We felt very safe and even slept with the back of our van open to take advantage of the night breeze. Campground feels very secluded even though it’s only 2 stone throws away from Rt 209 where you can get every service imaginable including firewood. Will definitely consider coming back. Thank you for being great...
