I am not someone who normally writes a review unless I truly feel strongly about the business or service. When it comes to Tattoo Mafia, there are several things that stand out to me that make this the “go to” tattoo shop in Delaware, and frankly the entire Mid-Atlantic. Here is why:

Cleanliness. This Tattoo shop is immaculately clean. From the moment you walk in you get the sense that they take enormous pride in their work area and look to provide the cleanest and most safe environment for you to get your service completed. Customer Service. When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by a warm welcome and a willingness to help. If you are there for an appointment they always look to go above and beyond for your visit. They offer you coffee or water, and they will even provide you with menus to local restaurants so that you can purchase food and have it delivered to the shop. They take the hassle out of you having to order the food and they place the order and track it for you! When your service is complete, they ensure you have all the products and knowledge of how to take care of your new tattoo or piercing. They always look to make sure you leave 100% satisfied. Talent. I personally have been tattooed by Ian three times now. He has made me feel incredibly comfortable every visit. He works hard to make sure you are completely satisfied, from the consult to the end product. He is very meticulous and takes tremendous pride in what he does. He also will make you laugh at least 100 times, which definitely helps take your mind off of the pain! It is not just Ian though that makes this shop. Chris and Lisa, the owners, are truly great people and they have built an amazing team. You can tell just from the culture and vibe they have in the shop, that they have worked hard to make sure their brand is represented well. If I didn’t have such a loyalty to Ian, I honestly would let anyone in that shop tattoo me, as they all have a loyal client base as well as a great portfolio.

This place is amazing! I went there for my consultation recently to get my monstrousity of a tattoo covered up. The artist that will be doing the tattoo discussed everything in great detail. She took measurements of the current tattoo multiple times making sure that what I wish to get would be sized perfect. I did not feel rushed or pushed into making decisions that would cut corners to make the design easier or less detailed. Now, the environment. I have to start a whole new part in this review because it was... Just amazing. When I walked in I was greeted with smiling faces and and an offer of a beverage and assisted immediately. The entire staff was friendly and courteous, the shop was clean as a pin. It was bright and wide open, the music wasn't so loud you had to yell to be heard. All of their displays ( for gauges and such ) where very well lit and the products within beautifully arranged so you weren't struggling to see anything or just seeing a massive pile of gauges and piercings in a bowl. I also know that I was not the only tattoo seeker there that felt as awesome as I did, there was a gentleman sleeping soundly as we did my consultation. That showed me this was a place you didn't have to be on edge and watch the artist like a hawk because you trust and believe you will leave there with beautiful work. At the end of this uper long review I have to mention one last thing, the artist I am working with did not just talk with me about slapping some random thing on my leg and calling it a day. No, she asked for details, picture references, ideas, also taking the time to mention not just the pros of getting the tattoo. But also mentioning what position I will be in and if needed to bring something with me from home so I am comfortable during a possible long session. I have never been to a tattoo shop that I would recommend more because it's not JUST another shop. No, this place is absolutely amazing and the people that work there are epic. I’ll start with the shop as a whole. Everything about the shop from the safety precautions in place for COVID, to the friendly staff who can answer all your questions, to the cleanliness (literally felt like I was in a Doctor’s office) was exceptional.

Alyssa was very nice to talk to, she was very eager to help in any way she could, helped me pick out jewelry, priced and repriced for different jewelry combos, gave very helpful insight on aftercare (and they have jewelry changing services). She also went out of her way to send me a picture of the pieces I was interested in for my second visit, and held them for me until the day of my appointment. She has a really friendly and sweet energy that makes you feel both comfortable and informed.

Robert is THEE piercer. Really nice guy, personable, experienced, a true artist. He’s also traveled a lot so he knows cool little cultural facts, has cool stories, and has pierced in a lot of different places. He walked me through a lot and crossed all the t’s (changing gloves, sterilizing, etc.) like it was second nature. He told me exactly what he was doing as he was doing it so I knew what was happening even if I couldn’t see it in my line of vision. He designed the shape and I let him choose where the different pieces went so I’d say he’s got the style element too. He’s really passionate about what he does and very determined to make sure you leave with all the instruction on aftercare you need to make sure your body stays healthy, like down to the anatomy of it all.

I left with so much positive energy because that’s just the kind of place it is. If anyone’s ever looking to get pierced in the DMV area, I’d say it’s more than worth the drive. I cannot recommend it enough. Stay tuned because one day I’m sure I’ll have a tattoo...
