Absolutely fantastic experience!
Over Frontier Days, I visited the museum with my teenage son and my mom, and we all had such a great time! The museum has changed so much since I last visited in 2014 — in the best way possible. Everything felt fresh, engaging, and beautifully curated.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Brad, who mentioned he works on the exhibits. He was so kind and passionate, and he told us about several new exhibits — including the concert stage, CFD History, and 1925. I can’t say enough good things about them! The exhibit labels were phenomenal — clear, informative, and really drew us into the stories. Even my teenager was reading them!
One of my favorite parts was seeing the photos and stories about Arlene — Brad mentioned there would be more coming to the website soon, and I honestly can’t wait. It’s so wonderful to see local history presented in such a thoughtful and meaningful way.
This visit was so much more fun and interesting than I remembered from years ago — it’s obvious the museum has put in a lot of love and effort to make it special. We’ll absolutely be back again, and I’ll be recommending it to friends and family. Thank you for a...
Read moreFirst of all I hate Western themed anything, but this was actually pretty cool to go see. I went with my dad and nephew, my dad is originally from Wyoming and wanted to revisit some things from the past and this was one of them. I was skeptical at first, the parking lot was completely bare and it looked like a small building from the outside. Once we got in there we met a elder gentleman who looked at us a little strange with all our city slicker clothes on, but other than that he was probably one of the nicest people I met, he took the time to show us different exhibits after a short while he decided to part ways because he had other customers coming in, upon exploring we learned many amazing things about Cowboy history and the old west, they had a whole section based on the different tribes of Native Americans as well as many others such as bull riding, the normal days on the frontier, and even a little bit about safety and had one of the largest selections of pulling wagons I ever seen it's definitely a great place to check out if you're out in Wyoming and have...
Read moreI liked the place, and as a foreigner, I found it a really interesting glimpse into local history and rodeo culture in particular. My ignorance about "Frontier Days" being a rodeo event (it's huge in Cheyenne but not exactly something we talk about all the time in Europe...) led to me being a bit surprised at how focused the museum is on that particular festival. Arguably, that's on me, but I did feel that the "old west" part of its name could be approached with somewhat more detailed exhibits and information on the history of the area. There are some cool objects on display though.
Do want to point out that $17.50 pp. (May 2024) in my opinion is really steep (and there's a review from 11 months ago mentioning how steep $12 is, so it seems prices are going up here beyond what inflation would account for). I understand the museum may depend on charging a certain amount, but other museums in the US I've recently been to were either less expensive or had more to offer.
Nevertheless, a nice place if you have an interest in the topic, especially if you like rodeo, so...
