The best part was the koi & turtle pond. Granted, It was December 15th, so the outdoor areas were dry & mostly just texturally interesting but the interior was terribly disappointing. I grow half those plants at my average home & mine are in better shape. Hardly anything has a label (the few that aren't already familiar to everyone do not) & there is an over abundance of the same tired wal mart houseplants filling in. It supposedly got a grant from Microsoft in '21, gets funds from the city, uses volunteers to do the work of planting for the city parks & takes donations. (Yes, we chipped in.) The only employees we saw were sitting at desks with computers. I hope they were making plant info plaques, not ordering more overdone, cheesy & detracting Christmas decorations. It looks like all the money & effort has gone in to that & the kids area. What a come down from what it originally was. Total loss of...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing! The indoor tropical plants are incredible and everything is so beautiful. Such an unexpected adventure! Outside, there's something called The Paul Smith Children's Village and I think it's a lot of fun for all ages! I loved the kinetic sculptures and watching the water travel down the troughs. It was also so cool to take a look inside their greenhouse - they've got so many seedlings started and I can't wait to return later in the season so see everything has been planted! I also enjoyed walking around the outdoor garden although there wasn't too much in bloom, but it's still a lovely garden. Watch out for the geese! 😄 I crossed paths with a family and some baby ducklings and received a few hisses, so I was sure to steer clear! Overall, I had a great day at the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens! And guess what - free admission! (They do accept donations in lieu of...
Read moreWe have been 3 times now. This last time we took my wife's 19 year old nephew who likes botanical gardens. Now he came to visit from Houston. He wasn't impressed either. I hate just throwing out 2 stars. I know all the workers are volunteers. I know they run off donations. They do the best they can with their budget. But I've been to several botanical gardens in my 51 years. This is the worse one I have been to. And they don't change. It had been a few years since me and my wife went last time. There was nothing new added in 3 years. At least nothing noticeable. Again to be fair o don't blame the staff. Honestly I think it's a hit ridiculous to try and have a botanical gardens in this region. We are a high plains desert. It's a hostile environment, and not great for plants to begin with. Just ask anyone with a yard in this town. So if you go don't...
