I drive through here on my way home from work ...the sky behind the Church sometimes has a amazing backdrop that always catches my eye...the old Ore walls from the Steel Mill never fail to spark my imagination, and the drive is always a treat.. There's a public park dedicated to Steelworkers right nextdoor and I met a local guy named Matt who lives across the street...he's a artist of sorts and invited me to see his chair installation in his front yard. He told me the whole area was knicknammed " The Bush" and turned me on to the abandoned Veladrome further south...I'm always fascinated by the huge ships docked just a little farther south by the Bridge and stop frequently to watch them load/Unload , or when their "Minders" slowly guiding them into position.. It's a pain when one moves out and the bridge goes up, but I still get excited watching the graceful, almost silent, movement of the mechanisms that make them work...as I get under the Skyway ( F.U. Rahmster) and worm thru Cal City I always love seeing the Patton Tank memorial across from the giant ship anchor sitting in the yard ..all this makes the ride a whole lot more enjoyable than sitting stuck in traffic on the Ryan...

Such a beautiful and peaceful spot to visit, offering some of the clearest water along the Chicago lakefront. It’s easily one of the best places to enjoy the city’s natural beauty, and what makes it even better is how accessible it is by different modes of transportation. The beach houses provide basic facilities, which is convenient, and the overall atmosphere—especially on a weekend morning—is surprisingly quiet and relaxing.

The park itself is lovely, located on the Southside with affordable pay-to-park options and a warm, welcoming local community. It’s a fantastic place to go for a jog, take a leisurely walk, or even ride your bike along the trails. What really sets it apart is the breathtaking skyline view you get from here. Whether you’re looking to unwind by the water or enjoy some outdoor activity, this spot perfectly blends peacefulness with iconic...

I didn't explore the park fully when I visited from San Diego, but I did go to the Field Museum. Being spoiled by San Diego museums plus having a love for natural history and nature educational venues, I was in absolute awe of this one museum. It was like a combination of our Natural History Museum, our Museum of Man, and our Museum of Art all put into one museum to amazing results! If you like natural history type museums and other similar educational facilities, expect to spend the full day there. The Field Museum is THAT amazing! That place alone makes me want to visit...

Really enjoyed visiting this lakefront spot after so many years! The park is small but lovely, tucked on the Southside, and kept nice and clean. Early on, it’s peaceful and perfect for a jog, with great trails and an awesome view of the Chicago skyline. Parking is very affordable with pay-to-park options, which makes it convenient. Later in the evening the crowd can get a bit rowdy, but overall the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, with an amazing local community. A fantastic place to relax, exercise, and take in the views!
