Oakwood Beach — Attraction in Hyde Park Township

You can park for as little as $2 for 1 hour. While I came here to see The Secret Mermaid, I was disturbed by the amount of trash, plastic, and glass on the beach.

There are trash cans and recycling containers every 50 feet but trash everywhere. I started to pick up trash to keep it from going into Lake Michigan but was overwhelmed by the amount of trash there was. I started to cry over how polluted the beach was and how the animals are paying the price of our (people's) failures.

But the mermaid was pretty much what I expected. Glad no one has vandalized her.

What’s the summer without the beach! This our second home during the summer time. We LIVE LOVE and repeat the beach! Always a good time. The sand was as clean as it gets, lol, not too many sticks dead fish floating, rocks and other foreign objects that will break through your precious skin. The water was pretty decent wasn’t too bad as far sandy dirty and algae like. Pretty decent beach. Always seems quiet and never too crowded. This location is pretty low key. Definitely worth going one...
