This is a gem if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Lots of trails to hike, run ride or just stroll. You can get a real good workout of that's your goal, or just make it a leisurely ride or walk.
Camping is primitive, no hookups, but RV can be used or just bring your tent. Reservations are recommended and you should plan at least 3 weeks in advance, 6 weeks for holiday weekends. Week day reservation are easy to get without issue.
Campground has free showers, so there's no hassle of having to bring change or purchase tokens.
Lots of dry brushes, so campfires and use of charcoal are not allowed.
As for riding, don't bring an E-bike unless you plan to stay on the paved road.
Trails range from very easy beginner lever to advanced.
Horseback riding is popular, but you must bring your horse as there are no rentals. They do have overnight camping for equestrians that includes corrals. They do not have showers in the Horsecamp area.

Read moreI went to Chino Hills State Park last weekend for the third time, and I gotta say, it's always a good time. The park was bloomin' with wild yellow flowers during spring, and it was a pretty sight to see. The entrance fee is $10 per car, which isn't too bad for all the fun you'll have. Just keep in mind that some parts of the road are one way, so you might have to wait outside a little bit before you can drive in.
If you're up for it, you can even book a space at the campground and spend the night. The trails are awesome, and we saw rabbits, crows, and lots of squirrels. It's a great way to relax and get in touch with nature. Oh, and bring plenty of water, 'cause you'll need it.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend...
Read moreI hosted a MeetUp hike and we did a 6.0 mile loop on May 8, 2021. The parking is on the street and is free. The trailhead is at the gate entrance to the park.
The trail was a fairly easy 6 miles, we were hoping for the flowers to still be in bloom, but those days are passed for the year.
Overall, this is a beginner hike, not too steep of climbs with nice long range views of the park.
If you are interested in joining in any hikes, you can find my hikes on the "Meet Up" app under the group "Five Miles or More Hiking Group" with the times and places I'll be going.
Enjoy...
