Chippewa Area History Center — Attraction in Chippewa Falls

Great history of Chippewa Falls and the Chippewa Valley region. The way they use quotes from those who built the area adds to the already fascinating displays. Look for an extensive history on the lumber era (including tools, methods used to cut and haul trees, heavy equipment, etc.), business leaders, the Northern Wisconsin Colony (now Center), fur trading, Native Americans, the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, and our military heroes, including a nice feature about Old Abe. While intown to see family with local community ties of almost 175 years, I decided to stop for a visit. Exterior of building is beautiful. I largely enjoyed the displays, but a few area to consider improvements would be:

Built in 2020, this facility is large and well kept. This is a great place for kids since there are a lot of interactive exhibits and a scavenger hunt.
