Homestead Shoppe — Attraction in Church Hill

Today I was here to buy a dresser. We left the store and came back once a decision was made to buy it, along with many other things to furnish my new home. We stopped by the front desk to state we wanted to purchase the dresser. The front desk said ok and we walked to the dresser. Another couple was looking at the dresser and the employee said out loud that we could pick up the tag and purchase the dresser. Of course when the couple heard someone else was interested they grabbed the tag before we could get to it. Not the store's fault. However, the owners did not say "I'm sorry, but this customer (me) just verified they were getting the dresser and are ready to pay. We have many other items that may interest you." The store owner did not understand why I was upset and told me I should have been there earlier when I mentioned the poor business practice. She did ask me if there was anything she could do, but would not tell the other customer that we had already claimed the item. This really frustrated me and they were unwilling to...

When I first came here about a year or so ago I was amazed by everything in this store. Coming back as someone who wants a small business someday looking for supplies, I was very disappointed at how stingy people are with their prices. Each section in the store is rented to various people selling their items at whatever price they want so it isn't up to the owner to delegate what sells for what. Sadly some of the items in there bothered my asthma and made it hard to continue through. There was even a set of mugs for $12 that I know for a fact were from dollar tree! I came in looking for cheap containers for my crafts like baskets and the were ridiculously priced! $16 for one that could fit in the palm of my hand...and I have small hands... that's saying something. Again it's not up to the owner and the new stuff in the front is beautiful and great for gifts but the other stuff towards the back...

While at the store, we were trying to purchase an item. An older couple told the cashier they had a tag for the item we were trying to pay for, so the store refused to sell to us, even though we were there, with cash and paying while the couple were still looking.

The lady then told us she was a Christian while we were giving a complaint, and wanted to know how to make it right, but refused to sell to us to make it right. While trying to cause my sister to feel the guilt and blame for not being there earlier, even though we were. Nothing about the demeanor of this business was how a Christian company should treat their customers after they make this kind of error. We are very unsatisfied and will not be back, not even to the parking lot, or even if they own the only remaining item in the world that I desire.
