Thank you to the owners who chose to invest in this community in such perilous times on the national front. Thank you. This community had been the boiling pot for civil unrest back in the 60's -- I remember well, and it never recovered from that. Slowly, all the major stores closed or left -- Sears, the Swifton Shopping Center's Mableys, Hancocks Fabrics, Olan Mills, etc., Krogers and Walgreens eventually too, and on and on. Avondale had become a food desert for decades. Then out of all this darkness, up popped The Country Meat Marketplace, with its opening day yesterday, during Black History Month. I'm so proud. I waited in line yesterday in the cold, nearly 2 hours, to get in!!! The wait was worth it: the store is amazing. The owners invested in every type of amenity you would see at any of the big grocers we're familiar with. And the staff, though overwhelmed with what appeared by my count to be well in excess of a thousand waiting in the cold, were friendly. I believe my old pastor, Rev. Dr. Venchael Booth of Zion in Avondale, would have been so proud yesterday, to see this store open in his neighborhood. The store is awesome and badly needed; now we have to support the owners with plenty of foot traffic at this...

The store was clean, the people were friendly. The produce was a good selection and the prices were relatively reflecting the average. I found out about their meat market and tried going last week but there was no parking and it was a chaotic mess (im not from the cincy area) I will DEFINITELY be back. driving 15 minutes to get groceries when there is a krogers literally down the street from my house is a small sacrifice of inconveinance I am willing to pay if it means supporting my own people so they can support our...
Read moreI was excited when this place opened and try to do some of my shopping here every once in a while to support the business but mainly support then through my coffee habit! Last week I didn’t really go as regularly because I think a machine was down and they had it closed. Understandably! No issues. I went back today and apparently, according to the management? they open the coffee shop at 8am while the store opens before 7. Super disappointed because I have to be at work by 8, which now means I no longer get to enjoy their delicious coffee and not support the business the way I hoped. Also super disappointing the store opens at 6:30 and no...
