I previously tried to visit this restaurant during another trip to Cincinnati; however, they were out of the items I wanted that day. When I returned to Cincinnati while working at UC Health Holmes Hospital, I had the opportunity to try it again. I called the restaurant ahead of time, and they informed me that my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich platter with macaroni and cheese and baked beans.
When I arrived, my food was not ready, and I was informed that their ticket system was down. It took an additional 10-15 minutes to prepare my order, despite them knowing what I had requested. While I waited, I walked around the restaurant, which appeared to be clean. Various patrons were coming in, and a few others were also waiting for their food. Unfortunately, I was on a tight schedule and needed to get to the airport. When I asked if my food was ready, they finally completed my order.
Though I couldn't eat it right away, I eventually got the chance to try the food. I found the macaroni and cheese to be lacking in flavor and unappealing in texture. The pulled chicken was extremely salty to the point of being inedible. The best item on my plate was the baked beans. Unfortunately, this visit left a disappointing first impression, but I am willing to give the restaurant one more try, as it may have simply...
Read moreToday was my first visit we ordered the big platter which gave us an opportunity to taste all sweets had to offer and this is my review. The ribs were the best, perfectly cooked, very tender not over smoked. The pulled pork/chicken was tender not dry again mild smoke definitely good for sandwiches with there tasty, toasted bread. The brisket was good I wanted to see more bark but it was tender and had some fat, definitely not 12 to 15 hr briskets, would make for good sandwiches. The chicken wings were awesome, will definitely have those again. The sauce, homemade so for me I had to aquire the taste it went very good with my chopped chicken and pork. The atmosphere was a 10 meet the owner he was cool and made sure we had everything we wanted. Overall it was worth the time and money spent a perfect visit and I will be back for more bbq, the crew was friendly and I look forward to hearing what my friends and family think as I implore them to visit. Thanks to sweets & meats for a great bbq experience and top notch service. See yall next time. Oh yea the collard greens were cleaned, picked no steams delicious. Bake beans...
Read moreSo I tried this place for the first time after seeing a post to support the business and based on the reviews. I ordered the Anton’s Sampler (Mac & Cheese/Baked Beans), smoked wings, Half Rack of Ribs, and corn bread for $78. The good: The service was good, there were 3 employees and they appeared to have a large party (maybe 10ppl) that they were finishing up with. The decor of the restaurant is very nice, with comfortable seating.
The BAD: I was disappointed when I only received 5 bones while many other BBQ places give at least 6 bones (they were meaty and tender). The Brisket was dry, just overall not appealing. The pulled chicken and pulled pork were ok, although the portions could’ve been slightly more, I guess it’s called a sampler for a reason (literally just a sample, a very small amount). The Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans were decent to me. The smoked wings were ok (just mid), they seemed chewy, but it was because of the skin since they were smoked.
The cornbread had actual corn in it which I didn’t like, but it was moist. Overall, the food was ok. I probably won’t be back since I drove about 25 mins...
