It’s okay. Used to be much better. The City of Glens Falls really needs to address the overall cleanliness of the park and facilities.
The restrooms need more frequent attention. I don’t know if it was dried blood or poop smeared on the wall of a toilet stall, but it was gross. I would not change in the restrooms/changing area. Too dirty/muddy for me. Your clothes or swimsuit will probably get muddy while changing because your feet will be standing in puddles and sand. I’ll be buying a pop-up changing cabana to bring with me for next time.
The lifeguards used to go through the grassy area raking up dog and goose poop, picking up bits of flyaway papers, cleaning out the grills, and keeping the park clean. Now they only stay at the building or beach, and never clean anything. We ended up finding a stick to scrape out old charcoal and ash from the grill so we could use it. We were lucky to get a picnic table, but also had to bring a folding table. There used to be enough tables to be 2 per grill, plus a few other random tables around. Now there are not enough picnic tables to even have one at each grill.
Police used to patrol every 45 to 90 minutes. We were there 7 hours recently and didn’t see any police presence. Thankfully, it was a fairly quiet day, and no drunken arguments broke out, none that we noticed anyway.
The beach area is alright, but could use some attention to cleaning and raking. The water was not overly crowded, but the day’s temperatures didn’t get above 85°F and the humidity was low. If it had been warmer and/or more humid, the park and beach may have been...
Read moreNice little beach/park. Parking there isn't my favorite. Bathhouse seemed relatively clean, as clean as a beach bathhouse can be I suppose. They have a few playground items. Small slide, a couple swings etc, I wouldn't go soley for the playground but it is a nice plus. A couple of charcoal grills are available, they seem to be on a frist come basis. We were there on a fairly busy Sunday afternoon and I saw 3 lifeguards, one in the water, one on the jumping platform and another in the lifeguard chair. I felt like they had a pretty good eye on everyone, and immediately put a stop to any shenanigans. Water is kind of gross, but it's the Hudson so I don't expect it to be pristine. I don't recommend getting it in your...
Read moreNice park all together. Trail was rather clean. Good for biking, strollers, running, walking, etc... The river was obviously really low, but still really nice.
The beginning of the trail has inappropriate liter from 2 love birds, but other than that it was fun. My family parked on one side and walked the whole trail, which took about 45 to an hour.
There's a little beach, bathrooms (don't think it's open during the cold season), a playground, tables, a beautiful view, a box of balls to throw fetch with your fur baby and plenty of room to throw a ball. There's a pavilion on the far side and an area...
