Serenity Hobbies Norwich — Attraction in City of Norwich

While traveling in the area, I had the pleasure of shopping at Serenity Hobbies during a quick stop in Norwich. I wanted to purchase some Yu-Gi-Oh cards for my kids, I was impressed with the selection. While I didn't need any tabletop games, I made a note of the quality and variety of the games for sale. I was chatting with the counter clerk (may have been the proprietor), who told me that while the original Serenity is in Oneonta, the Norwich shop has been open for a bit now. I'd believe that, there were a decent number of people in there, esp for a hobby shop. Seemed pretty popular. I was especially impressed with how welcoming and inclusive the store felt. Gamers are a rather diverse (and too often marginalized) group, I was happy to see a safe space for them, particularly in times like these. Anyway, I digress. I was there for Yu-Gi-Oh cards, I got what I needed what a fair price. Heck, the next time I'm in the area, I may go out of my way for a visit, and now that NYC covid protocols are loosened, maybe I can get some gaming on while there. Great place to come and play (for free). Whether its Magic, boardgames, or other tcgs, D&D, the owners Eric and Courtney are always welcoming. Any questions or interests are met with helpful guidance. Pricing is fair and honest. They have a ridiculous amount of MtG singles, both valuable cards and regular commons, all sorted for your ease. Binders full of rares sorted by set, all of which makes it so easy to find those exact cards you need to finish decks. The store also supports Friday Night Magic with prize support, runs weekly Friday events for MtG, and weekly YuGiOh events on Mondays now too! As far as boardgames, they have a crazy amount of different options, some of which you can even take a practice try of while at the store before you buy. They also run a 5$ stamp card promo, where every $20 you spend gets you a stamp, a full stamp card (5 stamps) gets you $5 store credit. MtG trade ins are also accepted. Don't waste your time, seems like new restrictions to outsiders (non-locals) Everytime you come up here. Started off free Yu-Gi-Oh card for every thirty dollars you spend, was spending hundreds of dollars, then all of a sudden he changed it for just us because all the locals get what they want. Call up there to verify what they have and get here they change it for us. Locals act like they run things. Better off going to Walmart, that's a lot coming from me as I can't stand WalMart. FYI, it could just be my color as you really don't see anything outside of Caucasian in his store. Will Never get my money or the other business that we were going to being to him.
