It was our first time kayaking on the River and we really had no idea what we were doing. The river guides along the river and the wilderness guides at the access point were very helpful in determining the best and safeest way for us to enjoy our kayaks. The scenery was beautiful and the Rapids were just challenging enough for beginners but not too challenging. We kayaked from the access point on Sycamore Canyon Road to the tootsie group bridge. We hit no higher than Class 2 Rapids but did end up capsizing so it's still the business for beginners!

Decent sized gravel parking with water access and view of Tuzigoot ancient dwelling, Taawaki, Clarkdale and Jerome not far off. Can be buggy in the summer. Sandy and rock trails, some better marked than others. There's an occassional religious group who bring signs and don't seem too friendly (i.e. offish with quiet passeerby hikers who aren't there own. Wont say "hi / good morning" back when just standing around and pass cold looks kind of thing but jubilant with colleagues. Low key weird vibe for around here, but not really a big deal). Trash cans on site. Toward Tuzigoot itself, you can see some 9mm rounds in some signs. Not an official outdoor range / shooting pit though....

I am from Indiana and have fly fished all over the country! I wasn’t expecting much from the verde river or the verde river access site and to my surprise this has been hands down one of the best trout fishing experiences of my life ! I fished all around the Tuzigoot bridge and caught rainbow after rainbow and they were very nice size fish ! It was amazing to catch 14 inch rainbows in the snow with Mingus mtn and the Tuzigoot monument as a backdrop! Thank you Arizona fish and game and thank you for the Verde River access site ! Absolutely...
