A great spot in town for all ages, to exercise or relax in nature. This special park has a large grassy field (a few wooded acres, but watch out for poison ivy) and a children's playground area with minimal equipment - could also benefit from some mulch or something to keep weeds down. Across Archey Fork Rd, there is a stone building with mens & ladies restrooms, and big open grass feilds with soccer goals, a disc golf course, and baseball fields. Sidewalks and paved trails connect all the parts of this park. There was also a volleyball net set up. In the distance is a covered bridge on a paved walking path. There's a rocky, cascading waterfall, and a few picnic tables for eating and relaxing under the shade of some mature trees. The trickling water feature empties into a fishing pond that's a pretty good size for a rural city park. Restrooms were clean with running water, soap, and paper towels. Finally, the waterway (Archey Creek?) behind the park is in the process of being restored to add to the charm and value of this great little park. On the Sunday afternoon I last went, there were 40+ people there & no organized ball game was happening, but a lot of folks enjoying time outside. I hope the community continues to take great care of Archey Fork Park & the creek behind the park becomes another wonderful attraction at this...
