I am from Clinton I moved away in 1987 & have lived in a few different states & cities and I have seen several places everything from mountains, woods, deserts and the pacific ocean on the Oregon coast which was amazing. But nowhere I lived had parks like Eagle Point Park. If you ever visit Clinton this Really Nice Park has a variety of Unique scenery spread out all over it no one area looks exactly the same but at the same time it all fits together Really Well. This park and some of what you will see here has been around probably 50 yrs or possibly longer. Last time I was there not far from the main entrance was the stone castle that is basically a sprial stairway of levels you can look out to see the river and a birds eye view of the area the castle is located. Also locationed I think somewhere in the area is a stone bridge you can walk across. In different area of the park is lodge that is swanky and in excellent condition and where its located is the most spectacular view of the Mississippi river I've ever seen. And there is another area of the park that is pretty well wide open with restrooms & maybe picnic tables ? This area is good for a really large group of people. The schools I attended back then would take us kids to this part of the park before school ended every year. Someone could easily want to spend the entire day in this park. If you can't walk long distances It also has a paved road the size of one lane that you can drive on to get to the different areas of the park but I'm not sure what the rules are for driving on a 1 lane road since I can't drive. When I moved back to a different part of Iowa decades later I had the chance to visit Clinton briefly a few times. Even though I and my Dad noticed a few things that were definitely different I really like that Eagle Point Park is pretty much the same as when I would go to it as a kid back in the 1970s & 1980s. I'm grateful that I was born in and I got to live in Clinton back...
Read moreBeautiful park in Clinton Iowa just across the border with Illinois. You can see the Mississippi River from some areas of the park. They have plenty of parking. Their bathrooms are really dirty. They had a portable bathroom with a flimsy door. They have a separate dog park for the dog lovers. There is a nice park for kids. The best part of the park is their stone tower on the highest point of the park from where you can see for a long distance, just be careful going up the...
