I did not get to explore the park itself, though what I drove through was gorgeous. My agenda was to find the fenced in dog park. Their dog park is by far the best one I have been to. My dogs would agree. You can buy a year pass for only $35. Otherwise they offer day passes. It is an honor system in which they request $4 for one dog and an additional $1 for a second dog. What a deal! The place is not tax funded and only operates off the donations. I gave extra! The dog park was at one time a zoo..I saw 3 fenced areas, one with water. We are saving that for summer. One for older or less active dogs. There is supposedly an area for small dogs. We went to the big dog area. It was fully fenced and a huge space. Read moreThis is a very old city park. The park is very well maintain and the views over the Mississippi are fantastic, looking out over the lake formed by Lock and Dam 13. There is a overlook tower, that kids love that is built of stone with stone steps going up. There is a stone bridge built over a deep ravine. My grandsons used to love playing on the bridge. The park has a newly remodeled lodge with a large outdoor patio, where they can have weddings. The lodge has a kitchen and nice bathrooms, perfect for family get to gathers, with a beautiful view of the river. Also there are 2 nice playgrounds, and an additional roofed area for picnics. Great place for...

It was so beautiful and reminded me of when I was a kid & came to see the lights for the very first time. Simply magical.
Heads up... there is a fee ($10 per car) to get in and see the lights.
As for the park itself, we have been to it on a normal day too... They keep it very clean & the castle...
