One job. You had one job when expanding the WEIGHT room and that was to ensure that the WEIGHT room was adequate for WEIGHT lifting. 2.5 years spent doing a small add on. 2.5 years to get it right, while we're stuck lifting on a crappy makeshift weight room on the basketball court.
Well, the WEIGHT room certainly has plenty of CARDIO stations. At a glance, there are as many cardio stations as all other equipment types combined. And of course, as it's ALWAYS been, only half of them are in use at peak times while every WEIGHT STATION in the WEIGHT ROOM has a line.
Oh, and there's a bonus. We were told of a massive increase in the number of deadlift stations (it was at a dismal 1 station). So, lots of room for improvement. Basically, nowhere to go but up. Well, what they actually did was make the squat stations into squat/deadlift stations. So the number of stations is the same, but you can do either exercise. Guess what? Lines are as bad as they were before BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME AMOUNT OF EQUIPMENT!!!
And if the deadlift station disappointment wasn't bad enough, the new deadlift plates they chose are coated with a super slippery plastic. You'd think you were in a greased up pig wrestling competition. Why on earth would you make weights slippery? They do sell decent deadlift plates. Did y'all even ask somebody's opinion that actually lifts, bro? Because they would've slapped you and told you to go back to your treadmill reading a magazine and sipping your Starbucks latte.
OMG, I feel like Mr. Mugatu from Zoolander taking crazy pills. How do you have 2.5 years to get this right and screw up in almost every possible way? You people should be ashamed of how badly this was botched and resign. The taxpayers and the students...
Read morePoor customer service and bad attitudes. The manager, DJ Scott, in particular has an arrogant and confrontational attitude, as if the little authority he has has given him a big head. I asked one of the employees to time my plank, but she said she needed to check with DJ first because her superiors were "really weird about us (the staff) using our phones". This was strange, as employees regularly help me time my planks. Scott told her she could not use her phone to time my plank but she could use mine. Seeing as I can use my own phone, this made no sense and was not at all helpful. I informed her that I did not have my phone and then asked whether there was a timer she could use. She went back to DJ to ask, and after about a minute of deliberation, DJ looks in my direction and just says, "there isn't one", not displaying the courtesy to approach me to tell me. This was strange and unhelpful because one of the employees was wearing a wristwatch with a timer. I then asked the employee whether she could help me do sit-ups, only to find that suddenly she had adopted Scott's poor, confrontational attitude, echoing my question and asking me, "Help you do sit-ups?". I said, "Yes, would you mind standing on my feet?". She continued to give me a hard time unnecessarily, saying, "Oof, I don't know if we can do that; I'd have to ask." This, too, was strange, as employees have helped me do sit-ups in the past. Apparently when DJ is around the level of customer service stoops to his level. Overall, a very strange, confrontational, and unhelpful experience. I guess this is what happens when children are...
Read moreI’ve had a frustrating experience at the Taxes and Rex Center, specifically with the aquarium and swimming facilities. The swimming schedule is a mess. it's neither organized nor published regularly. Every staff member seems to have a different explanation when asked about the pool's status: one says it’s broken, another claims the chemical balance isn’t adjusted, and yet another says the swim team is using it. The lack of clear communication and organization is appalling, and it shows a lack of professionalism.
I’ve also had issues with the spa (jacuzzi). I've reported the problem at least 20 times, and despite my efforts, nothing has been done to fix it. When emailing the center, they take weeks to respond, if at all. It's evident that staff are not properly trained, and management doesn’t seem to prioritize fixing issues.
When I escalated my complaint to the manager, instead of offering a solution or taking responsibility, I was told they would "suspend me for a week or two." This response was not only unprofessional but completely unnecessary.
The aquarium is also in poor condition. definitely not up to the standard one would expect, especially when we’re paying for these services. It’s incredibly disappointing that they continue to charge for such subpar experiences. If you're looking for a reliable and well-maintained facility, this is definitely not it. Be...
