Awesome Hospitality 😇! Poor food options ☹️. We and two elderly friends who are handicap, went to the George Strait concert. We were concerned about finding handicap parking because our friends use walkers to get around, so cannot travel far distances. I was going to drop the group off close and search for parking. Even though I was in the Corps and Class of ‘86, we arrived early to acclimate to the changing campus. After a few passes around Kyle Field, the streets unexpectedly were closed for public safety. Fortunately the Security Personnel had an organized plan for the public. We presented the handicap placard for our friends. We were directed to the multi level parking garage across the street from the stadium. Since we were so early, we were able to pay and park on the 1st level. I gave a tour of the MSC to the group and waited for the admission process to begin. Unfortunately we discovered that the cafeteria and other food venues were closed 😒. After seeing some of the disrespect others were showing the memorial facilities, I could understand not wanting to clean up other’s mess. Thankfully the MSC was clean and comfortable. Snacks from the bookstore were not appetizing. Once the admission process began we went through an organized and respectful security process. Again we were concerned that the handicapped friends were going to have to walk the inclines to the top level 😕. Ahh, NO! 🤩 The Great Staff escorted our friends to the elevators to ride up to the top level. As we turned to leave to walk towards the inclines, the Staff insisted that we stay with our friends 😍. Once on the top level we went to our section. I went to see how high up our seats were, steep clime, 😅. By the time I returned down to the group, Other Attendants had directed our handicap friends to an area where they could use their walkers to seat down in a secure and safe area. 😇 My wife and I went to find some passable food and drinks. Expensive and not good we found something to get by. The concert was great. For the most part everyone was respectful. After the concert we waited for the crowd to depart then worked our way back down. We thanked all the Staff Members for the great assistance. We were allowed to ride down in the elevator with our friends. We returned to our vehicle and again followed the well organized departure procedure. Our elderly friends had never been to an event as grand so we’re very appreciative of the assistance. As a former student and a member of a dedicated Aggie Family, I was extremely proud of the experience. When my parents would make the 4 hour weekend trips up in the late 80’s, they too were treated with respect by not only University Staff but by members of the community. WELCOME TO AGGIE LAND! The...
Read moreKyle Field is hands down amazing. There is plenty of directional signage. The quantity of gates and the wide ramps make entering and exiting flow smoothly and quickly. Efficiency at its best. My one complaint and it's a major one....if for those that have a physical handicap. I am grateful for the handicap seating, but it's lacking in handicap parking and access to the stadium. There is 1 parking lot that has maybe 9 spaces reserved for handicap parking. It's still quite a hike for someone physically challenged. The next options are the 2 garages. One of them is pre-paid and was sold out. The other was full. There needs to be a parking lot close to the field that is designated handicap parking or a large portion of it. Entry into the stadium, another issue. Elevators on 1 end corner of the stadium and 1 on the opposite end corner. This means that from parking areas, you have to basically walk the whole length of the stadium and the some to get to an elevator. There are escalators if you walk a little further, go thru the gate, and weave thru the line guides like at 6 Flags. By the time you do this and get to your seats, you're worn out. C'mon A&M, you can do better than this. There are a lot of elderly Aggie Former Students and supporters along handicap students, former students, and supporters who support Aggie Football. Come up with more adequate parking and access for everyone. ...
Read moreSeems to be a fantastic place to watch a game. I wouldn't know from personal experience. Though I did take a self guided tour late one spring evening. It was a rather innocuous trip to begin with as I trekked 2+hours from Austin to look around the outside of a stadium as dusk began blanketing the horizon. It was early spring, so there was no game. And I certainly wasn't there as the guest speaker at the 12th Man Awards Banquet. Just me and myself and a haphazard camera phone clad In semi gnarled up clothing. As the self guided tour began, the tour guide noticed an unlocked gate where he made his into the misspelled RC Slocum Center. Throughout the evening we mendeared in & out of meeting rooms & coaches offices before easing on down to the museum full of the Aggie's Accolades & Achievements. I cant imagine how spacious the place would've been had it been a legit football powerhouse like Alabama. It would prolly stretch a city block. I posed as an elevator repairman when questioned by an actual staffer on the premises doing actual work. The ruse worked as I gained even further access to the facility. I left the facility no bigger Aggie fan than I was upon arrival. However, I did get some nice shots, enjoyed the tour and downloaded the Aggie War Hymn on my...
