Our family did the Mt.Muscoco hike. It was approximately 4 1/2 miles long with 2700 feet of elevation gain for me, it was right at 6 miles long because parking was not available at the trailhead so I had to hike from a parking spot farther down the road. I dropped off the family and my 3 1/2 year-old son as well as my 5 1/half year-old son did the hike, though they are already used to hiking. The trail has a couple of difficult spots with the loose gravel and the incline but none of it was so technical to be much of an issue. Just need to be close to your younger children in case they have a miss step. The view from the top were fantastic with a couple of different areas to look in different directions. Most of the hike is covered so the cloudless day would not be much of an issue. Because of the incline and the rock I would not recommend it in icy conditions. Make sure to take food and water in your backpack because it is not a quick hike and plan on about three hours round-trip, including hanging out for a little while at the top....

We did the Mt Cutler trail, which is supposedly "easier". The trail is mostly an incline from the beginning and for us who are pretty out of shape, it was moderately challenging. We made it close to the summit where Seven Falls was partially visible, until fear of height kicked in around the corner where the trail got a bit narrower next to a drop. Maybe next time!

There was still some ice and slush today at the beginning of the trail, but not a problem with hiking shoes. Some people were wearing tennis shoes, including small children, and they did fine as well.

The view throughout the trail was beautiful and it got even more magnificent as you get to the top. When you make it back down, you can cool off by the creek across the...

  • CLARIFICATION: THIS ONLY PERTAINS TO MT. CUTLER, I DID NOT DO THE MUSCOCO TRAIL!!*

Ok this place is a amazing but don’t be a complete dumba** like me and get lost for 45 minutes because I could not remember for the life of me, where I came from lol. The path is pretty obvious until you get closer to the top, just don’t forget!! Some narrow parts of the path so be VERY careful with kids and pets or else they’ll get yeeted off the mountain into oblivion!! Hike is fairly easy and you can see seven falls along the way (although it looks tiny). There’s a bench at the top of Mt.Cutler so enjoy, have a snack, smoke the zaza and embrace the views ✨ Also prepare for like no...
