A great trail in the beautiful North Cheyenne Canyon. It basically covers the entire length of the canyon. Great views throughout. There are a lot of ups and downs, but if taken slowly, it's doable for the average hiker. The trail isn't marked very well, but it isn't hard to get lost as there aren't many intersections with other trails.
My recommendation, if going round trip, is to start at the Lower Columbine and hike your way to the top at Upper Columbine then back down. Middle Columbine gets pretty steep and the gravel is pretty loose. Shoes with good traction are recommended, and for those who need support, trekking poles would definitely benefit.

Read moreBeautiful hiking area. My friends and I took the lower columbine trail and walked for a good 30-45 minutes up the trail and then back to our car. The trails are straightforward and easy to follow. We went during one of the first snowfalls. River still flowing nearby. A few people on the trail. Some walking their dogs others were trail running not suitable for strollers or bicyclists. It was an intermediate hike with the uphill walk and switch backs.
