On the way down, a few hundred feet from the top, you have to make a right turn and step over a rock to stay on the trail. It's not obvious. The second time I hiked Muscoco I went straight down, and it looks like there is a trail there, at least for a while. Then the trail disappeared and I was just going down the ridge, and only realized it after a few hundred feet. I was too lazy to walk up and could see the road below, so decided to give it a try. It was a great adventure getting down, that involved some rock climbing skills, and careful route finding to avoid ledging out. It is not a mistake I will ever make again. Although, just yesterday I ran to the top and then down, and sure enough, missed the turnoff, but realizing it right away. And another time, I saw other people making the same mistake, and warned them, then they thanked me for "rescuing" them. It is a trap you should know about - on the way down, remember to go right and step...
Read moreAmazing hike with a nice amount of strenuous sections. The last half of the hike involves some rock scrambling near a cliff face, so I do not recommend for persons with small children, persons who have a hard time bending down, or dogs. Unfortunately a lot of people take their dogs off leash on this trail even though they're not supposed to. A dog who likes to wander off the trail would definitely be in danger on this hike because there are very steep slopes and cliff faces.
Another issue is that some people have also taken to leaving doggie bags of poop along the trail. I love Colorado so I have picked up what trash I could along this trail, but its a real shame because I consider this to be one of the best trails in Cheyenne Canon. The view at the top is gorgeous and there are some beautiful vistas on the way up as well. Definitely well worth the effort, just please remember to pick up...
Read moreModerate hike with great views of the city and Cheyenne mountain at the top. The last stretch of this hike is very uphill and there are parts where it’s easy to get off trail. Pay attention to the red arrow signs and AllTrails as the red arrows are missing at some switchbacks. AMAZING views at the summit in several different places. This is a relatively quick hike. I walked the entire thing and did it in under 2 hours with taking a very long...
