Loved it. Great experience and I'm so glad we did it.
I thought the price was a little expensive, but you do get six fantastic zips out of it and the folks running the show are great. Overall, it ends up being a good value. I wouldn't do this on every visit to this Colorado erea, but it should be done at least once in a lifetime... it's really a "must do". Though, it is likely that they will expand the course making return trips very tempting.
I researched these places a lot and found this one to be one of the best. After visiting, I can confirm that it is one of the best (if not THE best). The first five zips will have you zig-zagging back and forth across the canyon. Each zip is progressively longer and higher off the canyon floor. (So you start off small and easy... just getting your toe in the water.) Also, each zip continues to take you further and further away from where you started on the first zip. In the end, the sixth and final zip runs the length of the canyon taking you nearly all the way back (close to the first platform on the first zip). It's a very good layout, especially ending with that last, long zip... it's like a grand finale.
The tour guides are very funny. Their personalities only adds to the experience, and IMO, helps to lock in excellent feedback.
For those who might be afraid: I noticed one thing on each line. At no point does a zipper have to jump off the edge of a cliff. Don't get me wrong... the lines do cross a very deep canyon, but when you jump off the platforms, and are first hanging with your feet in the air, the ground slowly tapers away. So before going over the canyon, you do have a few seconds to get comfortable with the movement on the line and adjust to the feeling of your feet not being on the ground.
Got folks in the party who don't want to zip? No problem. The central hub and starting point for Zip Adventures begins at the "4 Eagle Ranch". While waiting for my Zip to begin, my party of three relaxed in some rocking chairs on the front porch of the main lodge building. We watched many other folks participating (for $ I'm sure) in other activities such as learning to lasso and to shoot rifles. Box lunches were available. If someone wants to stay behind and not zip (which takes about 2.5 hours), I don't think staying behind will be that bad. I'd say grab a lunch, sit on the porch and enjoy the sites.
Preview the zips or observe: I noticed that the highway, running from "4 Eagle Ranch" and I-70, passes the canyon and the locations of the zip lines. There were a couple of pull-outs. If you want to see first hand what it looks like, pull over here and take a look.
In the end,...
Read moreParents and teen did first ever zip lining coming from a flatland/prairie area of Tx and had a phenomenal experience. I am absolutely, genuinely terrified of heights and the best thing they said was that I would never experience the stomach drop sensation along the regular lines, and they were correct. I went in tandem to get my courage up the first two lines. Jimmy from NY and Nick from Chicago were the guides, and unlike many adventure experiences in mountain towns we have tried where you have to wonder how trained and experienced the guides were, they were extremely competent and professional, taking all safety measures very seriously and repeating them often. As a bonus, they were also friendly, funny and made the experience wholly enjoyable. I did not catch the name of the woman running the reservations and sign-in/store, but she was also incredibly helpful, patient and encouraging of any questions or concerns. Could not recommend this excursion, company or team...
Read moreDespite my overwhelming fear of heights, our two guides managed to make this an unforgettably awesome experience! On the first line or two, I had to close my eyes, but still got across. By the 6th line, I was looking around, hands off the harness, and flipping upside down thanks to the guides and the extreme prioritization of safety with this company!
Side note, at the 5th course (the cliff drop), I had to scoot out on my butt while one of the guides (I believe it was Nate, but if you recall, please correct me so I can give credit where credit is due!) basically held my hand lol. But with support, a sense of safety, and confidence in my guides, I went off and was so glad that I did.
Thank you so much Austin and Nate (again, please correct me if that's not the right name) for creating a thrilling, safe, and...
