We stayed at Collective Vail to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We hadn't gotten to go camping this year because of our busy schedule so this seemed like the perfect getaway to chill out and celebrate our anniversary. Dont get me wrong, Collective Vail is a great concept and it was nice to not have to lug our camping gear somewhere and set it up but it seemed very disorganized and some of the charges are not exactly up front. I had no idea that there was a "non-refundable deposit equal to 100% the total cost of your stay" until after I booked. So whatever you plan on spending, double that. I also read on the website there would be a coffee bar in the tents. Come to find out, its for the Summit Tents only not the Journey Tents. Journey tents basically have towels and a deck of cards. It also would have been nice to know that our car had to be parked down a mountain about 1/2 of a mile as well as the area to pick up your BBQ box and have breakfast. Nothing was really explained to us, they just asked for our name and put us on a 4 wheel vehicle with our bags and sent us up the mountain to our tent. We asked another couple where we picked up or meals and where breakfast would be since it was never explained. We ordered the BBQ boxes for our dinner each night. The BBQ boxes were supposed to put together so that you could "grill it your self and have everything you needed to BBQ". For starters, The BBQ was clear at the other end of camp. All we received with our BBQ box was unseasoned steak(Pork chop the next night), a potato with absolutely nothing on it and piece of squash that we threw out because it was slimy. No utensils to grill with, no salt and pepper to season our food with. For $76 they could have thrown some salt and pepper and butter into the box. The nearest restaurant is 20 minutes away so its not like we could just go into town and grab something edible. Plus for $76 I was expecting a pretty nice meal. I also got us sandwiches for lunch that cost $20/person and all we got was a turkey sandwich with bacon and lettuce. No chips, no drinks just a sandwich, definitely not worth the $40 I spent!! After all was said and done, we arranged for pickup they dropped us off at our car and said our final receipt would be emailed to us later and they drove off. I actually had to send and email and request our receipt. After getting the receipt I then had to ask for an itemized receipt to so that I could figure out some charges. This is supposed to be "Glamping" which I was excited for, but every time I turned around there was a charge for something or something was only included in the upgraded tent. For the money we paid we should have gotten more than just the bare bones of a tent then what we got. For Collective Vail is a great concept, just...
Read moreWe have been to several glamping sites in the states and in Mexico and this one is one of those that is great in pictures but not so great in reality. understaffed ( 1 more person would have made a difference) you need to plan all your meals in advance which is understandable however we missed the email ( went to spam ) and a call or text would have been appreciated the food is OK , 2 out of 5 stars personal preference : the last thing you want to do after a long day is cook your own dinner , I wish this was optional we did not receive housekeeping, the beds also did not have pillow cases or duvet covers ( this should be a must for hygienic purposes) lots of bugs in tent ( we are outdoors understood) however each tent should have citronella candles or complimentary bug repellent and an inspection should be made for crevices and openings ( there are several that need attention) -response time from concierge is not great , could be better the tents need updating , tip : do not pay attention to pictures online the tents look very different in real life , especially the bathrooms they need up-keeping especially on the paint , refinished , the deck needs to be repainted as well as well as deck chairs (we got a splinter from the wood chairs sun damage) the pillows are noisy and really really fluffy , you can’t really sleep well on them the bed is very comfortable ! Yay bed I have no idea why Caleb is in the service industry as he clearly does not want to be there , Andy however was great ! And the guy with glasses both of them attentive , good attitude and hard workers. the lights on all the pathways barely work so it’s really dark, these need to be replaced or give each guest flash lights ;) the views are great and location is remote enough to where you feel disconnected !
We, met some cool people , got some good rest , other than that this place needs some TLC , up-keeping and in general...
Read moreI’d love to give 5 stars but there were something’s that went wrong and that were falsely advertised that has me frustrated. We booked the king bed summit tents. It says right on the website that there’s a wood burning stove inside the tent, there is not. I was very disappointed by this. Next, we have a shower in our tent yet we couldn’t use it because the hot water doesn’t work. We asked them to come check it out and idk if they ever did or not, I’m assuming they didn’t because it still didn’t work after asking them to come out. The only other thing that frustrated me was the fire pit not having enough room for us to go get our free s’mores and sit around the fire. This many tents, you should have at least two fire pits so everyone can enjoy the fire. Especially since you removed the stoves from the tents. Also, personally I don’t recommend the BBQ experience. It’s unsanitary and at the price point I’d like to have at least wash my hands when handling raw chicken, steak and pork. They don’t provide a thermometer to make sure chicken is cooked to correct temp. The steak was really delicious however not worth $155. I could see a price of $50 maybe but not $155 for u to cook ur own food.
Everything else was great! View was incredible. Staff was friendly. Bed was very comfortable!! The granola breakfast was nice, and the setting where you eat breakfast is stunning!
Overall I feel I was overcharged considering we didn’t have the stove or hot water. But I do love the unique experience we had and in such a...
