Long story warning, but itâs worth it.
When I first moved to Columbia, life hit me hard. The week before my move, my storage locker got broken into and everything I owned was stolen. Starting from scratch, I saw a commercial for Cleekâs Furniture and went in. They helped me furnish my entire home, and the experience was good. So when it came time to get a washer and dryer, of course I went back to Cleekâs.
Fast forwardâmy washer and dryer are paid off and I was sold an extended warranty. What I didnât know was that this warranty had an expiration date. Cleekâs charged me for over a year after my warranty expired, and I didnât even find out until my dryer broke. My husband works two jobs, so having working machines in the house is not a luxuryâitâs a necessity. So when my dryer went out, it felt like my whole world was thrown off. Back to the laundromat I went, thinking it would all be fixed because, hey, I had a warranty⌠or so I thought.
Thatâs when I got the call. My warranty was long gone, but my bank account was still being charged for it. To say I was angry is putting it lightly. I was furious, frustrated, and honestly felt taken advantage of.
But hereâs where everything changed: Darrell.
Darrell didnât just âdo his job.â He listened to me when I was mad and gave me space to let it all out without brushing me off. He treated me like a person, not just another customer with a complaint. He escalated my problem, made me feel like I mattered, and most importantly, he showed me that he cared.
Darrell is the reason I stayed with Cleekâs. Heâs the reason I got a new dryer through them instead of walking away for good. He made me feel valued, like my problem was important enough to fight for. He turned what was a nightmare into an experience that reminded me people in customer service can still have heart.
If that doesnât tell you something about the kind of person Darrell is, then I donât know what will.
Thank you, Darrellâyou turned a disaster into a blessing...
Read moreI canât say enough good things about Cleekâs. We had a series of unfortunate events in trying to find a couch for my daughterâs apartment. The one we wanted from IKEA was missing a piece. The only that Ashley Homestore guaranteed was in stock and would be delivered within the week never showed. We knew getting one into her tiny basement apartment would be a challenge but Cleekâs came to our rescue. I found them on Google and sent an SOS email to Cleekâs to see if they had anything that might work. I had a reply from John Cleek, Jr. within a few hours. My daughter went into the Columbia store the following day and Susie Cleek treated her like family. When that couch didnât fit, instead of being upset with her returning it, Susie searched until she found one that would work. The delivery man agreed it should fit and delivered it the same day. He even took the time to make sure it was set up for her. Sheâs learning to be an adult and do adult things. Cleekâs helped make a stressful situation a lot easier for her. So grateful to them. And look at how cute...
Read moreCalled to make my payment for the washer I have been purchasing through them today. I have always called and paid over the phone (this helps me stay on time with my payments). But today I was informed that I had to pay an extra $3 for a convenience fee for paying over the phone. No this isn't a card processing surcharge this is for an employee to process my payment. Now the only way to bypass the $3 extra fee is to drive to there store and have that same person process my payment in person. This is bad business and once I am done with paying off my washer I will no longer be using their business. What makes me upset even more is that is if you are late they charge you $5. They are making it even harder to get payments in on time and I bet it's so they can nickel and dime us with the small fees. Very disappointed in this...
