Did Mugs up change their recipe? Been hearing from friends/family just not as good. We've Been going there for over 40 years, never had any complaints until now. Stopped by a little over a month ago. First time this summer. Definitely, the taste to us was different-spicier, it was also more expensive and the portion size was smaller. My chili cheese bun was more bun than chili/cheese. The bun was broken. I asked for extra onions and it had no onions on it at all. My chili cheese dog (asked for extra onions) again had very little chili/cheese and such a small amount of onions you really had to look to see them. The cheese sauce was different too, not as creamy. The wrappers around our food were loose, not tucked in tightly like they used to be. Even the root beer which used to be very cold and served in glass mugs came in a styrofoam cup and was luke cold. I didn't complain because it was still good but definitely not what I was used to or expecting. So Thinking it might just have been a off day for them, we went a second time about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately we experienced the same issues as before except this time our buns were stale and they were out of chili cheese dogs so we ordered a cheese zip burger instead. Our cheese zip burger was ok, but again it was more bun the burger and the cheese was left off. We happened to hear the cook yell out the window to the ladies taking the orders he was down to 4 hot dogs. It was close to 1:00p, there were 4 vehicles in the parking lot (including us ) which it used be hard to find a place to park. In all the years weve been going to Mugs up not one time have they ever been out of something. The service from the ladies who take our orders hasnt changed. They are always exceptional. Especially the lady who has worked there for a very long time, she does an excellent job, shes always very friendly, full of smiles and we always look forward to seeing her but In our opinion the taste, quality and quantity at Mugs up...
Read moreEat here every summer for most of my life and the last 5 or 6 years have been horrible along with prices.. Ive gotten cold chili cheese hot dogs with almost no chili, cold chili cheese fries that look & crunch like they have be recooked 3 or 4 times & sometimes mostly just cheese. This is a constant problem with the fry's (At 1pm) and they cost 4$ now.. Ate this 5 times last summer & had 1 good experience.. Anytime after 12pm is very iffy on getting freshly cooked food even when your the only customer! In my opinion everything should be cooked fresh to order for the prices they charge but rarely is! When its good though this place is awesome! (It's just rare these days)
I highly suggest reading Nancy bee's review below.. Im a life long como local & I 100% believe her & may never come back cause I've herd stuff like that for years so it makes sense! Just Jeff's across the street is wayyyy better & you can guarantee everything is fresh it just closes at 3pm...
Read moreIf you are looking for a feeling of nostalgia you should visit this place! Park your car either between the poles by the building or anywhere else on the lot and stay in it because they come to you to get your order and bring you your food! Unfortunately when we got to visit the root beer machine was down(they said someone was coming fix it that day). They definitely do things a little different when it comes to ordering a hot dog compared to where I’m from lol I order “sauce and slaw” and apparently that’s not how it’s done in the Midwest but I survived with just “chili” on one and tried a “chili cheese” for my other. I can say I’m not a fan of cheese sauce on my hotdog but if you are into that sort of thing I’m sure you’d like it. The fries were good and one order was plenty to share between 2 people at least. I can’t say I loved the hotdogs but the experience and service was worth it(even if I didn’t get a...
