I went on the route suggested by google maps that took me behind a retirement community. There was a woman who yelled at me on my way in and out, and it was as I was leaving that I finally understood that she was yelling at me that it was private property. Her behavior was very foul, and I did not find a path that took us near the island, just a small lookout that belonged to the community residents. So there is the disappointment of walking 1.5 miles and expecting a peaceful respite - then barely being able to hear the birds chirping over the din of constant traffic.
