Riverbanks zoo — Attraction in Columbia

My recent visit was a bit of a mixed bag due to the weather turning bad, which meant some of the animals weren't out to see. Adding to the disappointment, the carousel was also closed during our visit. Despite that, the zoo itself is a decent size and offers a lot to explore.

If you are looking to get your steps in, this zoo provides a decent workout! The walk up to the garden area and the splash zone has a moderate incline, making it a great physical activity. However, if you're not looking to break a sweat, I would strongly recommend taking the sky lift, especially to get to the upper sections.

Overall, it's a solid day out, but two key pieces of advice: first, check the forecast! Second, given the inclines and the amount of walking in exposed areas, I probably wouldn't recommend planning a visit on the hotter days of summer. It’s definitely better enjoyed when the...
