So many memories at Willy-B and creating more. The place where each home game thunders with the theme from 2001 A Space Odyssey and COCKY appears like magic. Our family is in its 4th generation, attending the University of South Carolina, THE USC and attending games at Williams-Brice Stadium!!
Our journey started with my father attending on the GI Bill, after his Navy service in the Korean Conflict. Regrettably, only for one year as he and his young wife had their first child. He had to take a full-time job. They had 4 more children. Thank goodness for federal grants and work study programs of the 70' and 80's. All five of us had the opportunity to attend and graduate from the University of South Carolina.
My second oldest brother's son came to USC even though they lived in Georgia. Now, his oldest daughter is attending Carolina, even though they live in Georgia. The tradition continues.
As my older brothers attended USC, our parents brought us to see one or two games during the season. It was magnificent. Overlapping in attendance, my oldest brother sang in the Concert Choir and performed for pregame and special halftime programs with the original Sound of the South, the Carolina Band. My second oldest brother played saxophone in the band. The stadium is beautiful, daytime or nighttime. It was thrilling for a young teenager.
Reserved and Paid parking is available. The farthest lots start at $20. The closer to the stadium, the more the price increases. The walk to and from the stadium is part of the fun. You say hello to fellow Carolina fans and those of us with good sportsmanship, wish good luck to visiting fans .
Hope you and your family get a chance to experience a...
Read moreWe got tickets for Liverpool VS. Manchester United. Maybe it was a little overwhelming to expect such a high number of people to some of the biggest club football teams in the world. But when the national coverage shows 20 mins into the game already started. The amount of cars still waiting to get into the parking lot (for which they all paid for btw). The fairgrounds parking lot probably can fit over 1000 cars. But there is only 2 entrances they opened up? Then once you get to the first entrance you are then met with if you bought this using ticket master it's a different line (after waiting 20 mins in bumper to bumper traffic). Then you get to go stand in line for 45 mins. They had a lot of personnel to handle the traffic. But why would you only have one dedicated entrance for ticket master instead of having people scan at both at the very least?! I'm not sure who was in charge of making these decisions but they will make but the problem is having only 2 entrances open for such a large amount of cars not how early you open the gates. After all of that experience during the entrance into the stadium you are met with 4-8 lines of security scanning and then 1 gate with 1 person scanning tickets. Meanwhile there's a crowd of 50+ waiting to get in. But behind the gate is about 5-6 stadium workers just standing there? Overall the stadium was decent, enjoyed the light show with the fireworks. But if I knew getting into the stadium was mission impossible l'd think twice about any other event in the future.
You would think for a school named the game cocks. They would be able to fit thousands of cars into two holes in a matter of...

It was the home field to 1980 Hiesman Trophy winner George Rogers and The Legendary Coaches Joe Morrison and Steve Spurrier. Williams-Brice Stadium is also the most upgraded sporting venue in the state of South Carolina, and home to the High School Football State Championships. Enjoy Gamecock football and some of the fiercest College Football Rivalries in the Country. As an SEC member as of 1992 it holds a standard security measures for entry such as ticket possession and a clear bag policy. It has recently approved alcohol concession sales. Alcohol is not scarce amongst the surrounding vendor's and can enhance or endanger the fanatic experience. The restrooms in the stadium are typically occupied to the point of a long 20 minute plus line. The maximum capacity is 86,500 and one of the favorite things to do amongst younger individuals is to take a selfie by the lower level endzone, and catch the view from winding observation balconies in the corners of the stadium. For the more experienced and corporate fans their are luxury boxes at the top of the stadium that are pricey at the top level; and season ticket club boxes in the middle levels. Games typically last over 3 and a half hours and the Gamecocks are still awaiting their first SEC...
