Just when you thought the parking couldn’t get any worse, this month they added MORE no-parking signs against the only remaining fence where people could safely parallel park up front. This comes after they repeatedly reduced up-front parking quietly throughout all of last year, first by reserving two spots at the front for EMPLOYEES (why should paid employees park in front of customers???) and then later by blocking the corners and some of the fences from being parked on for no good reason. Up-front parking at the new location is now beyond unacceptable for a gym that costs $70 per month, and it’s a huge betrayal to long-time members like myself who have been coming here for years and remember back when there was plenty of up-front parking at the old Brickhouse. Now we have to drive 5 minutes further past old Brickhouse and (if you park in the overflow lot which is RIDICULOUSLY far away) you walk another 5 mins to the gym so you waste an extra 20 minutes round trip for every gym day. That’s an hour per week wasted if you workout 3x. Who decided this was a good choice for the new gym??? The inconvenient location and parking far outweigh the larger size of the gym, which btw still doesn’t have enough barbells for all the racks and still has outdated equipment in disrepair. I have tried to be patient and give them time to work out their silly quibbles with ETV over the closer overflow parking lot which we should be using, but I’m not sure how much longer I will wait before canceling for good. Shame on Brickhouse for choosing this location knowing that the parking would be terrible and then deliberately making the parking...
Read moreBrickhouse is such a great gym. They have many pieces of equipment you simply will not find in other gyms. There is something in here for everyone whether they are a bodybuilder, powerlifter, fitness competitor, athlete of most any kind or even just someone looking to get fit and in better shape for their general overall health and self confidence. Squat racks galore, dead lift platforms, huge turf area and so much equipment and space it would take you forever to use everything even once.
The owner is a former athlete herself and knows quality equipment obviously judging by the top of the line equipment she has the entire facility stocked with. The gym's manager is a retired state champion bodybuilder and has a vast knowledge of anything related to health and fitness as well as being a nice friendly helpful guy.
The parking is no issue at all due to having a huge lot right out back of the facility that takes me about 90 seconds to walk from parking to inside checked in and ready to go lift or hit some cardio. This is a great gym and Columbia's top facility by far with a great staff and the members are nice with everyone doing their thing and there working hard to better themselves. You get a lot of bang for your buck at Brickhouse Gym. I cant think of anything I could complain about at all with this facility other than I wish I lived...
Read moreIt's a typical gym, nothing special. It's very small and unless you go to workout before ten in the morning you will be dealing with the typical meatheads and space space pirates that are there to talk and roam around. The guy named Lee gives his supposedly extensive background upon every introduction to a new person that comes (I assume that's his sales pitch for his qualifications in regards to being a personal trainer), Seems like an insecure mentality to me. I would not pay that guy to train me. He just goes around taking to people which is bothersome. There really isn't anything special about this gym other than a couple of hard to find gym apparatuses, but the lack of space and the attitude of people there isn't worth the fee. Planet fitness while having different atmosphere has way more space and nicer amenities. Admittedly the. equipment at Planet fitness is just Ok, but how much work does a person really need to get a pump? Brick house tries to have the "old school" feeling but comes up short giving more of a good old boy "in crowd"...
