Good spot to park for the night or 2. Sani dump, water, power, Friendly people. Mostly older white retirees. John who runs the show is very friendly. Could talk to him all day.
We parked the Toyota motorhome at the border crossing in the parking lot and spent 2 days in Mexico just coming back to the States to sleep. The pink store isn't a dime cheaper then any Mexican restrants in the states. They speak English well tho. We got burritos from the lady in the white little cube truck kitty corner from the pink shop and ate them at a antique old Coke cola table on the sidewalk. One dollar each. No beans.. All real meat, good damn burrito. Best we had and cheap.
We also went bar hopping deeper in. I would recommend not to like john warned us. If you don't have 3rd world experience or big balls don't bother. Good people, but after dark it could be rough. At the brothel bar, flamingo we made a friend. I Kept my white ass from ending up elsewhere not wanted. Late at night my bride stayed behind at the motorhome. I Left the bar at 1am and crashed my shoes off a 14" sidewalk in a belly flop tearing myself open.... I believe, don't...
Read moreMaybe I should give more stars, because this is really a very nice little park. Roomy pull-through sites in a garden like setting. But the bathhouse, playground, and dump station are out of service. Perhaps I just have the unfortunate timing of coming after some infrastructure disaster. Very nice porta-potties are in place.
Like most parks, pets on leash, and not allowed in buildings. There is a playground, but it is roped off and closed without explanation. There are some picnic areas as well for day use. The museum is very nice, there is an informative video and many artifacts from the days this land was a military fort. It seems this was formerly designated as an International Peace Garden and there is a nice garden with walking paths through the hill which once served as a lookout tower for the camp. You can see Gambel's Quail and other birds here.
At&t coverage was 5 bars, 5 television stations and several radio stations were available. No...
Read moreWe had to accelerate our travel plans from Ontario to Arizona by a week to avoid some very unseasonably cold weather. Unfortunately this weather extended down into Dallas where we had planned to spend a few days. Looking for somewhere we could get to that was warm we discovered Pancho Villa State Park. We made plans to head there for four or five nights, not knowing what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised. This is a beautiful Park with great sites beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Sites are only $14 per night with water and hydro and no admission fees. Puerto Palomas, Mexico is just 3 miles away across the border. Although the washrooms and dump station are closed at this time there were very clean porta potties available and the washrooms at the visitor center were opened from 7:00 a. m. until 4:00 p.m
Would highly recommend several nights here if you are...
