Our family has been patronizing Schuman's for years now. Excellent customer service from everyone... I cannot stress the word 'everyone' enough. Our food has always been fresh and the establishment is top tier clean. They have recently handled this pandemic wonderfully and even though customers have to wait outside to adhere to capacity requirements, you really don't hear many complaints. Staff is very timely with ensuring that folks are let in appropriately. Keep up the outstanding work!
UPDATE: My original post was regarding Schuman's ability to maneuver the pandemic, however years later, our family still calls Schuman's family! Our weekend ritual for everything from grilling to lunch meats. We always find what we are looking for and because of the friendly atmosphere amongst the customers, you tend to receive a recommendation or two on various foods not on the radar. My original comment holds true regarding the customer service - even after a less than desirable experience. During my last visit, I arrived 10 mins before closing. While the staff were more than accommodating even as they were cleaning and breaking down the displays, a staff member that tended to me was clearly trying to leave for the day. He wasn't rude, but if you are accustomed to the Schuman's way, you could immediately sense the attitude. I chalked it up as a bad day and paid for my items. I share to say that even that experience wouldn't change my rating, nor views about this establishment. Schuman's will continue to be our weekend...

When you arrive at Schuman's and enter through the front door, you'll notice a red number dispenser to your right. Take a number to determine your place in line. Once your number is called, you'll be quickly helped. This system ensures a fair and efficient service for all customers.
At Schuman's, you can be sure that your meat and side needs for any meal, big or small, will be met. The butchers are not just knowledgeable, they are also incredibly customer-centered. We bought pork chops and were asked if the thickness was to our liking; if not, they were willing to cut what we wanted. Their helpfulness and support make me feel appreciated and confident in my choices. Schumans has an extensive selection of beef and pork products, and a delightful delicatessen with a variety of cold cuts and cheeses. While Schumuns does not make its own sausage like Thurns, it does carry a wide selection of Falter's products and Tony Packo's.
At Schumun's, you can find more than just meat and deli products. They also stock staples like milk, bread, eggs, a wide variety of condiments, rubs, Tony Packo's pickles, and local butter by the log. This convenience adds to the overall satisfaction of shopping at Schumun's.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnbelievable. Their staff just accused my husband of theft - stealing eggs one at a time (over a period of months, natch) and putting them in his pocket. They say they have witnesses. They say they've seen it with their own two eyes. They say they have it on video. If you're going to make accusations, they damn well back them up, because not doing so opens them up to a defamation case (since they found it necessary to accuse him of this in a store full of customers). We've been long time (10 yrs +) customers who have frequented this store (one of the last remaining locally owned butcher shops) and who spend hundreds of dollars there every month.
Why, on that is good and holy, would my husband (whose salary is in the six figures, btw) steal an egg (worth .20) not just once, but repeatedly over the course of several visits. Maybe in six months he'll have enough to make creme brulee If they feel we are thieves, and you say that you have footage to prove it, then put up or shut up. Call the police and get them involved, because he has done absolutely nothing wrong.
We've already decided never to frequent your store again, and will also share our experience with everyone we can. If they think so little of us and the business we bring to them, and (in their words, not his) feel the need to "watch him like a hawk", then they don't need us in their store - because apparently if they think that we are thieves, then they all are...
