While attending zMAX Dragway for the first time, we were really excited to see our first live 4-Wide drag race.
I was impress first with the parking and the attendants, very polite and friendly. The shuttle service provided was excellent for those not wanting to walk from the vehicle parking area, plus it saves time!
The visual presence of law enforcement created a safe feeling for a family event.
The concessions were ok, a couple times got cold food and warm drinks. MelloYello was sold out early. Concession staff were friendly.
Pits were awesome, plenty of room for the many fans, however some people on scooters in the pits were traveling at very dangerous speeds amongst the crowd. I understand there are liabilities with attending a Motorsport event, but unsafe operation of a vehicle in a crowded area is a preventable practice. I have been to most NHRA National event’s throughout the country and all have pits where I feel safe walking with my family. Unfortunately not the case at zMAX.
The seating was great, I was in general admission and felt like I had reserve seating, great view of the track!
Bathrooms were clean, so thank you to the cleaning staff, it is much appreciated.
zMAX being a non smoking facility meant nothing to some inconsiderate individuals, who smoked everything from cigarettes and cigars to marijuana. We had to move from our seats on several occasions.
The value of entertainment for my dollar was well...
Read moreWe went to the "Street Car Takeover Charlotte " car show and drag races held here, where the general public can bring their cars here to both show and or race on the drag strip. It was AWESOME!! The zMax Dragway facilities are HUGE!! PLENTY of parking.....be prepared to walk because this place draws BIG crowds thus alot of parked cars in big lots. They do have handicapped parking right next to the raceway. The facilities themselves- the drag straps, stands, buildings, etc - are all top notch. Big to accommodate the crowds, well maintained, and mostly clean. Plenty of food options at concessions but it's mostly event type foods - burgers, hot dogs, fries, drinks, snacks, etc. They did have alot of food trucks there too that provides alot of other options. Restrooms are clean, BIG - ALOT of stalls, and in good working conditions.
The dragway itself is where this place really shines. 4 wide! For this event they only ran 2 lanes. Track itself is well maintained, although on that day the sun and heat made things a little slick, cars had trouble hooking up, but that's to be expected for an event mid-day in late June. Stands are close enough to get great views and feel the power. These are standard metal seat bleachers like in high school football stadiums, so if you want cushion, you have to bring one.
Love going to this place! zMax Dragway...
Read moreWent to zmax for a quick photo shoot with my daughter and her boyfriend with our shelby mustangs and was run off by a security guard saying we were trespassing in the parking lot. No wreckless driving, just sitting on the curb outside the cars while my daughter took pictures not doing anything wrong and a security guard (Bobby Campbell) walked over to us very aggressively saying we were trespassing and we are not allowed to be there. Blown away that a race track will not allow the public to come take pictures. I even called the office and unless you have a ticket for an event they will kick you off their property. Maybe they shouldn't advertise for a cars and coffee meet if they do not allow people with hot rod cars to be there. Maybe they should follow the law and post signs or install a gate that let's people know the public is not allowed to go there! Terrible experience and would not recommend any one to visit...
