I bought about $1000 worth of upgrades for my PC at Best Buy, including motherboard, processor, GPU and RAM. After installing it all myself, it still wasn't working. I tried calling Geek Squad, but they didn't answer their phone... but I know they charge $100 for diagnostics only (they tell you what is wrong), then they ask you if you want them to fix it for a ridulous amount of money. So I searched online and found Austin Tech. I called them. They answered their phone right away. They told me that diagnostics are free. I brought my PC in. Finding the store is difficult, even with GPS (it's in an industrial park with several other unassuming businesses that I would have never known exist, but now I plan on checking out each one). After checking in my PC, I looked around the store. I was angry with myself after seeing what I saw... They had the EXACT same motherboard I just bought for about 1/2 of the price I paid, BETTER GPUs for about $50 less than the one I bought, and NEW monitors for about 1/2 of the price of the same models at Best Buy... The lady who was helping me was VERY helpful with everything. This Mom and Pop shop has it going on. Once my repair is complete, I will update this review, but for now, 5 stars so far.
UPDATE! I forgot to update the review. Sorry about that. I bought a new case and had them install all my old PC parts into it after the diagnostics. In all, I paid less than I did at geek squad AND they had it ready for me the next morning. I have recommended dozens of my coworkers...
Read more5 years ago, when my HP Pavilion laptop would not boot, I had it repaired by the Geek Squad. $400 and over 2 weeks later, my laptop died within a few weeks after being "repaired". After a rightly deserved "You should have listened to me in the first place", I purchased a HP G60 laptop for about $600.
Recently, the screen on my HP G60 went blank, leaving me to use an external monitor. The Geek Squad quoted me $200 for a diagnosis and would have to send it away for at least 2 weeks. NOT AGAIN!
This time I had the good fortune of being referred to Austin Tech 2000. Since I could use my G60 with an external monitor, thinking it a very long shot, I asked if they could do anything with my HP Pavilion. What could I lose on a FREE diagnosis?
A week later I received a call that the HP Pavilion I had given up for dead 5 years ago is alive and kicking! Pleased with my resurrected Pavilion, but fretting over whether or not I would have to replace the G60's screen, I dropped my G60 off at Austin Tech. Again, about a week later, I received a call that they were able to repair the G60's screen at approximately a third of the cost to purchase a new screen.
Now, I for a little more than the cost of one useless Geek Squad diagnosis, have 2 working laptops! I am extremely pleased with every aspect of my experiences with Austin Tech 2000 and highly recommend...

I took a computer of mine that had seen better days and they were not only able to diagnose the problem by simply looking at the motherboard. I was amazed at their experience level. I was even further amazed when they said that rather than simply repairing it for me, they could replace the part, all coming out to the same, originally quoted price.
Travis is the tech that helped me from day one, he called and gave periodic updates on the status, and helped troubleshoot secondary issues I was having with the computer without batting an eye. I highly recommend the crew at Austin Tech to help you with your computer, or for finding any parts...
