After reading the reviews here I would agree with all the reviews on the Misty Points but add my experience. We love oysters on the half shell as well as oysters Rockefeller. We generally buy at a high end grocery store for what we refer to as "buck a shuck" or, in the alternative, go to a local restaurant and let someone else do the work when they have a special "buck a shuck" deal. I was going to order clams and oysters for a dinner party, but never having used this service, I decided I better "test" them first and I am glad I did on this occasion, so I only ordered 50 misty points. Including shipping ,the cost was about $1.36 each, so similar to what I generally pay. The ship dates I was given was a Friday or Monday. I chose the Friday as my dinner party was to be on Saturday. Well, they did not arrive on Friday. I got the e-mail from Fed Ex to track the package and they went from Maryland to Indianapolis Indianna. They did not arrive on Saturday, or on Sunday and now they were in Tennessee!!! They really travelled. Finally, they arrived on Monday. Now, I had been in communication with the company, however I didn't see the e-mail the day of arrival telling me to discard them due to the length of time in transit. I live in the northeast and we have been having many weather issues so Fed Ex is not what it used to be. Anyway, when they arrived, I opened them and smelled. Hmmnn, there was no offensive odor. So, I began to sort through them and I would say 9 or 10 didn't make it. The inside packaging of the box was "rough". The ice was still frozen, ,but it seemed this box was "tossed around" quite a bit. Other than the poor delivery service which was not the fault of Cherrystone, the oysters themselves were dirtier than I have ever seen. It took hours to scrub them. I could have made a small beach with the sand remaining in the sink. Perhaps in the summer it would not be so bad because you could take them outside and use a hose or pressure washer, but these were EXTREMELY sandy. However, once they were scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed and cleaned, the product itself was excellent and MUCH BETTER than those we have purchased locally. Additionally, the customer service I have received has been ABOVE AVERAGE EXCELLENT. They offered to replace or refund. I let them know the above, that even though the delay in delivery really effected my p lans and party, we were able to use some of the product. So, they still are sending me out a few dozen to experience the product as they should be. Well, they are due today, and unfortunately the northeast will be blanketed in snow again, so Fed Ex may fail again. But, this is in no way a fault of the company.    Read moreI had previously ordered the chunu oysters twice, very delicious, but too petite for the price of shipping. Ordered misty points for the first time. Arrived on time, very cold, but they had a very pronounced fishy smell, and not in a good way. I scrubbed them all down thinking it was just a bad one or two. I only found 3 that wouldn't close up.,but the smell was too much for me to risk getting sick. I tossed them, just to be safe. Not sure what happened, but I might try again some day. I was able to get a sack of crawfish luckily, so the friend's get-together went on as planned. Still have never tasted a misty point, but will probably choose the smaller chunu's again next time.    Read moreI’ve been ordering online from Cherrystone for years, and they’ve consistently been the best! I usually have most of my seafood delivered, and Cherrystone has been the most reliable and delicious of them all.
Although I’ve never met the farmers, it’s clear they truly care about the product—out of the thousands of clams I’ve ordered, only three arrived broken and not opened. That kind of consistency is rare.
Even with rising costs everywhere, Cherrystone has kept their prices reasonable while maintaining outstanding quality.
The little necks, as always, were AMAZING!
